Would anyone be interested in a strategy guide in word format or a strategy site with pics? Please let me know.

    Hi Chris
I think either would be most welcome to us tyro tyrants...I, myself, look forward to a word format. May much success, and huge enjoyment attend thee, in this project!

I'd be interested as well (don't let the name fool ya ). I've found many bits and tips here and there in this site which has helped me a lot. I'd love to see a lot of them put together. I just learned the other day that putting a road on trade resource squares increases the trade by one. I thought roads only increased trade on desert, plains, and grassland. And I've been playing for like 3 years! I'm pretty sure the manual (I've loaned it out) doesn't mention that anywhere.

I have been meaning to do a re-write and correction of "Fire!" with info from the thousands of posts here at Apoly, still undone... Good hunting with your effort Chris, the Archive of strategy posts here is nearly complete, but a god-awful mess to try to weed through.
                Be the bid!

Check out the "Distilled Civ Tips and Notes" thread. I've already started the task of distilling the information contained on this site, and would be glad to get as much help as possible! Good luck in your task!

As a total newbie I made myself (for ToT) a set of charts in Excel showing Wonders and City Improvements and their respective effects for each of the three categories, Original/Extended, Fantasy and Sci Fi. I have it set up in a laminated booklet for quick reference while playing. Only useful for beginners like myself but you are welcome to the file if it would be of any use.

                      Ramouth,

I would be interested in that.

                      Inca911,

This is one very, very diffucult task. The file after two pages is 65.8 KB. It is very hard but I am going through every post looking for some good info.

                      Chris

Does anyone want to contribute something to my site's War Academy? (no, not money) I especially want strategy and tips on the military aspect of the game.

Also, let me know if you see any mistake in the strategy guide.

The key is alot of cities and a huge army and navy, especially a big navy to take coastal cities.

Remember to distinguish between what everyone views as strategy and the more radical things, ie "if you can't think of a very good reason to build something else, build a caravan" applies to everybody, but airstrips on hills, airstrip "defence lines" and mining city squares are a little on the edge.

Other ideas: divide into science, expansion, and war tips, ie science build SSC, war get women's lib.

Strategies I learned from hear that I didn't already do:
                              -The super ironclad strategy
                              -Learning resource pattern
-Learning what becomes what, ie always turn pheasant to buffalo at some point.
                              -how to get tribute
                              -the bribery formula

Things which are already obvious, but maybe not to new people:
                              -Stockpile caravans
                              -The power of spies.
-Use railroads to conquer land civs.
                              -use planes to defend units
-superflous techs slow you down; get darwin's when you're beaker is empty so you don't waste science, don't use caravans if u discover this turn
                              -home caravans to big cities.
                              "Wait a minute..this isn''t FAUX dive, it's just a DIVE!"
"...Mangy dog staggering about, looking vainly for a place to die."
"sauna stories? There are no 'sauna stories'.. I mean.. sauna is sauna. You do by the laws of sauna." -P.
