Galvatron's absolutely not a DL, he's been around a long time and furthermore Soundwave's grammar would be easy to recognize. Anyway, Soundwave has posted two times in the last month, offering to continue playing and then disappearing again.

Correction, in the first AoW game it took 2 turns. I should know, I conquered them. But it was also a joint effort of 3 forces (CEU, Britian, and Italy). Now, this may be due to the early stages of the game, but we'll see what will happen later on. We are still wondering what would have happened if Russia had alligned with France and thrown her glove in, or if the Med Leaugue wasn't flipped off by France.
Still, all in all I really don't like rails myself.

Does anyone EVER read the Readme file?
I'm not happy about the effects of RRs in Civ2 either. I even stated why in the Readme file for AoW. Yeah, Tech, you're correct. I have more than adequate knowledge of the RR system as it existed at the turn of the century in Europe, but chose to leave some lines "incomplete." Anyone who has spoken with me about scenarios and scenario-building knows that. To some extent, I dealt with the problem more effectively in Imp1870--still not satisfactorily, however.
Tech, I agree that there are seemingly several posters out there on the site that are soundwave DLs. I have a theory about that, but I'm not going to air it in public.
Don't get too excited, Tech.

I have made a version of AOW with no railroads, that's what I changed, the roads, not the units, not the civs or the cities or any other stuff, Exile did a good job of that. I just wanted to see what AOW would be like with no RRs, so I changed the roads in each country and changed the road movement value to 8 instead of 3 and I think it is an improvement. I asked Exile permission to do this and he denied it so I won't be giving the scenario to anyone else or making any PBEMs of it unless he gives permission.
So I've play tested it in single player and I think the movement is more realistic but I would like Exile to look at it and see what he thinks of it.
If anyone else thinks AOW with no RRs is a good idea, say so."Long live Iraq. Long live Jihad. Long live Palestine. God is great, God is great." - President Saddam Hussein

OK is anything happening?
It has been so long since I played the last turn in this pbem that I had forgotten nearly everything about the country...
well, there seems to be a lack of commitment to this game Cyrion. So i guess if you can check in here every 3 days or so, you will be among the most active players.
I guess this tells me how little have happened here over the last month or so...
I must admit I haven't got the slightest idea what is going on in this game: the pace is so slow...
And Darius, I thought you prefered History to AOW ?? Ok, ok, I know, it was BEFORE you started to play it... And I prefered AOW from the beginning, if only because you don't have too many units at the start and have some time to "get into it"...
Now, to be fair, if the History PBEM got slow and quite uninteresting originally, it's not because it is unbalanced, but rather because of some players being slow, quitting and such: it came rather from the players than from the scen, IMHO. (and the problems started BEFORE your game by Civfanatics).
And then about Soundwave and his supposed DLs: I don't know about Von Blucher (though I doubt it), and I think Sepp Dietrich and such were at Civfanatics and NOT here!! So I'm really not sure Soundwave had ANY DL at Poly!
And about the scen: yes, IMHO it's a rip off! but I think that SW didn't see anything wrong in modifying a scen to suit his taste better (I'm NOT saying he was right, but it's not as if he got money from it or even tried hard to be admired for his scen!) with high move units and such!
And Exile, he didn't say you approved but mentionned that his work was based on yours, that's all:
Now the Honour Role
Most of all Exile for the 'Scenario template' and I always wanted to do a scenario like this.
So, I just wanted to clarify a few things, as I am playing in both the "Another AOW" (BTW Exile, it's the game I prefer from those I'm in, your scen is great, even for the backward Ottoman player! but I must admit the people I am playing it with are helping making it fun, thanks guys!) and the original "History" PBEM (I am the one not remembering what happens from turn to turn and complaining it's too slow !)Ankh-Morpork, we have an orangutan...

Yes, the cheating incident (which I had even forgotten, just to show how involved I feel in this game... ) belong to what I meant when I wrote it came from the players instead of the scen!!
And I agree, the result of the game at Civfanatics brought a further sense of futility, but it wasn't really needed: the game had lost most of its fun even before...
Nonetheless, it seems I can't disagree with youAnkh-Morpork, we have an orangutan...
