The Viking menace is being turned back! Our recent gain of Counsil of Bluffs (where the Viking field general pretended to make peace earlier) has now been followed by the utter destruction of the settlement just east of the fort. But of even greater note is the fall of a great Viking war god....
This berserk must have stood eight feet high, and fought with the ferocity of twelve dragons, but he only had the wisdom of one twelfth a dog. Indeed, this war god drank so much after his 'victory' that he drove himself into a stupor where he acted not unlike a giant slug, oozing over tables, women - who were also drunk silly, and small racoons. While easy to slay, we took heavy casualties from our own men who were so disgusted at the scene that they litterally vomited their bowels out.

I send this to you, General QuiGon Wang of the Southern Army to inform you of the reason of my company's belatedness.
Indeed we were on good time, the roads having been paved so well that our horses litterally glided across the surface. However, we ran into, litterally, unexpected company. Traders from the Roman Empire were traveling the road. While no one was killed, goods were spilled and some soldiers fell off their horses, thus causing a great delay. The traders were ordered off the road for the soldiers to pass. I hope our absense has not affected the siege of Tlacopan.
Like a beaten dog, we've retreated to our burrows to lick clean our wounds. There are enemies to kill, swords to forge, and wrongs to avenge.
A suspicious regiment in red armour is fortified south of the glorified trading post that is Red Feathers. If it knows what's good for it, it will leave for the west and knock together some teal skulls.
Hey, we decided at the first Imp1870 game to put Jmarks' slot up for grabs. After being two weeks late there and at AoW, I was wondering if we should add this one. It's not his turn, but if we put it on now we could get a sub now and not wait for one later.
Or we can wait since JMarks has been pretty reliable in the past, but in this post he said he might have to drop a few PBEM's.
Our traders have retreated back to our ships, but we wonder if the Chinese could leave their roads open for the next few turns for our convoy to arrive near New Beijing. The revenues from them should be more than profitable enough for you to redirect your troops east rather than south for a few years.
The Roman traders should be pleased to know that there is no more planned use of the royal roads by troops heading south for a while. However, they should be warned that there are no passes around Mojave or Chico.
In other news, two more Pagan towns captured in the north. Chinese engineering rules the day! In the sad town of Cedar Falls, no Vikings remain to mourn the loss of their fallen hero, a Berserk who loved wine and women. That was his down fall, as we had plenty of wine and he mistook our envoy for a woman. Our envoy did not like that, so he slit the Berserk's throat.
We plead with our southern Roman brethren to join in our slaughter of the filthy dress-wearing Westerners. Swordhand by swordhand, we will paint their land red with the blood of their cowardly nobles and soulless serfs.
What say ye? We are willing to grant you the fine city of Powhattan Swamp that has been emptied of Irish scum just for that purpose.
