Playing rome is always a disadvantage, they face a huge science penalty.Originally posted by atawa
Depending on number of players and islands playing white can actualy be a disadvantage, like always it all depends on settings.Join the army, travel to foreign countries, meet exotic people -

My color preference is basid on legibility and visibility.
So I like white, yellow, cyan (lt. blue), green, and orange for ease of reading with my old, tired eyes.
But it doesn't end there. I'll pick almost any civ, regardless of color, if I'm in the mood for certain city name sequences.
The only one I really hate is the Aztecs, cuz the city names are so odd and similar to each other.
Tlateloco, anyone?

as mentioned earlier the only true advantage to white is that you build wonders 1st.
most games i play white because i have been asked to by a certin host so he can rename his civ
i don't see many advantages but i live with it

I fail to understand, how you can get to a wonder tech first if you face a science penalty no other player does?Originally posted by dabarono

white always moves first, so its initial techs will have a penalty. If white discouvers alpha first its cheaper for all other civs etc. Go read the posts about never play romans or sioux.Originally posted by DrFell
Already know the key civ stuff, it all depends on what techs the other civs have and your power ratings. White doesn't have any disadvantage.Join the army, travel to foreign countries, meet exotic people -

You can change all the civ colors, not the turn order, by changing the colors on the cities.gif.
All this does is change the color of the flags, and the names of the cities and civs will appear in the new colors.
You can custom name the civ anything, and you can alter the city name list by changing the cities.txt.
Look at the attached cities.gif, the thing to change is in the lower left corner, the bar above the flag determins the civ color.I believe Saddam because his position is backed up by logic and reason...David Floyd

But you are assuming that just because white goes first, that they will be the first to the early sciences. If the second player (or any other) has better trade specials available....Originally posted by markusf

with many of the players being great expanders, it really comes down to land, huts and guile....who goes first is irrelevant other than wonders and kings.....
the only question you need to ponder, is how far do i walk with that set.....do i take the land behind me to use trade specials or do i press on and hope i can block/find more land and backfill later.....its a toss up of course and depends on the proximity of your neighborsBoston Red Sox are 2004 World Series Champions!

test it out, the key civ thing goes by powergraph AND civ color.Originally posted by Ming
