Yep... when I saw the wounded archer, I rushed a phalanx... and then used the warrior to see if I could take him down a little more, and get rid of the surprise attack. I had finally gotten a few more settlers to some fresh land (there were still huts there) just west of you. I was cruising on sciences and my production had improved dramitically
yes...with HG the game changes for that person....not too mention rah and i both got off to ****e starts.... i saw a warrior go by once and i was going to attack but you stuck to high ground...i should have sent my chariots where your warrior went to get those huts..
unfortunatley i ran into Barono the turn before you so i made a mad dash to get all my rivers......
i had no trade specials in my 14 cities....and all cities were on rivers but the capital which was on grassland
yes again a game where it's the little things. I went with the odds and explored towards the middle and took nine turns to find a site that was fish and pheasants. If I had moved 3 squares north i would have found a river square with silk and wine. And settling that late will cost because by the time you get the first settlers out, the barbs kept them from getting out for half a dozen turns. The land was good, but I didn't manage it well.

It's getting to the point that I don't want a fantastic start in Duels anymore. As soon as the other player figures it out, they want to restart another one. It's hard to disguise one.

Yes, in one of my most recent duels I got a nomad real early, but decided not to place the city until a 5th city had been placed so my opponent wouldn't see it in the top 5 cities and realize I got one and whine about how they got pottery and want to restart. Unfortunately it's harder to hide other things.
