        Understood...

Also just so people understand things, becuase some may not, in the "real" world (current world) as Germany and Hungary are members of NATO they are considered Western nations, Hungary may not have been historically but Germany is considered a western nation.

          --------KOMLO COLONY REGISTER--------
          Thursday July 19th, 700 bc

          HEADLINES-------

---Disease strikes the wheat crop, residents grim, expect a hard winter here in the Turkish hinterland.

---Mr. Somagdy bought a new pig. It is a genuine Hungarian sow imported from the motherland. Attached to the pig were notes from Budapest, wishing his family well. Hoping that our colony is surviving well.

---The Eory's welcome a new baby boy. They are joyous for another male in the family to support them with the tough life here in the colony.

          EDITORIAL-------

Well what can i say... not a whole lot is going on here in Komlo, we are a million miles from home, out in this boring land called Turkey. We have infrequent contact with our homes back in Hungary, and we miss our friends from back in the heartland. Plus it is just BORING out here. Oh well, we hope to get a few copies of the Budapest Press on the next supply caravan, get to hear about what is going on back in the country. Unfortunatly one isn't due for another 3 years or so... Sigh....

TOP STORY: Italy Cedes from Western Pact!
Naples - In a major twist, Italian Impearator Lorenzo D' Medici announced that Italy would leave the Western Pact. Over three-hundred years of alliance was broken with the nations of Spain, England and most importantly France. Most Italian statesmen were against the Pact from the start but did not believe that Medici, who's father was one of the original signors, would crack under pressure: "I totally agree with Impearator Medici on the issue, I would never have continued relations with the Western Pact after recent activites, but I cannot understand how he could ruin this legacy..." said Napolian Duke Victor Emmanuel. Quickly after Italy left the pact, England and Spain announced open aggressions towards the Italians while France took more of a neutral role.

            Estonian Rebels capture Hannover!
Hannover, Estonia - Estonian Rebels under the command of Attila the Hun have captured the city of Hannover in convincing fasion from Germany control. The capture of the city can be due to a lack of German defensive prescence, it was basically a situation where the Estonian Rebels could walk into the city and take control of it. At this time there is no word on an Italian stance on the situation, however Hungarian ambassador Milos Molnar has issued the following: "We intend on helping the Germans return Hannover to German hegemony by any means, the Germans have garunteed the recapture of Hannover." Thus far, the Germans have made no attempts to retake Estonia.

Territory Disagreement in the Low Countries nearly leads to World War!
Brandenburg, Holland - German controlled Holland became the site of a possible catalyst for World War, as English settlers openly settled German controlled land, this also comes at a time when Italy decided to leave the Western Pact due directly to English seizure of the area, and the impeding of Italian settlements in Belgium. "It is unfortunant that England has to take such steps, such aggressive steps, in order to gain its might, it must have been spoiled by an entire island to itself, for in the past few years has shown no ability to continue good relations with continental powers." The situation heated when the Belgian city of Genoa (under Italian Dukedom) was threatened by England, and subsequently the Western Pact. Sources indicate that the French and Spanish talked England out of invading Genoa, but these reports are thus far unconfirmed.

Impearator Lorenzo D' Medici baptized in the Tiber!
Rome - Lorenzo D' Medici, who ascended the throne of Italy from his father Cesare Medici, ordered the entire royal family, including the houses of Savoy, Medici and Hapsburg christianed in Rome. This would mark the first "western nation" to embrace christian teachings, who are said to have their origins from a land called "Palestine." This would mark the fourth monarch to be baptised as christians, however the first to be baptised under the Catholic faith, which holds its origins in Rome. Stephen I of Hungary, who ascended the throne from his father Arapod was christianed in the Danube, Berzerker of Germany in the Rhine, and Vladimir Kent of Russia in the Volga. What does the new religion mean to the crown? Pope Clement of Rome said "The new faith is a very good one, it is a dawning of a new era in Italy, we intend ot spread the good word of man to our western neighbors, as soon as they learn to act civilized in negotiations."

Southern Tribes Incorporated into the Italian Kingdom.
Trieste - After constant attacks from southern "barbarians," the Italian army has captured the entire penninsula in the name of the house of Medici. General Giuseppe Garibaldi claims "Now that Italy has been fully unified, we can begin our military build up, granted our army has been a joke in recent years, but we have already upgraded our strength, particularly at sea, and intend on establishing Italy as the major power of the Medditerranian." Soldiers are currently being sent to the Rhine valley in order to protect Genoa from the English.

            Editorial: Why the alliances?
            By Gianni Mercutio

I don't understand it myself, and at least Impearator Medici finally has come to his senses. The Latin Alliance, or now the Western Pact was a joke from the start. Italy is now much better of without it, with new territory in Belgium, land in Bosnia, and finally reunification of our homeland, we have shown the nations of France, Spain, and that heathen scum England that Italy can do just fine on its own. If not better. Both sides are to blame in this conflict, if I remember my history correctly, it wasn't until the Hungarian-German Alliance learned of an all encompassing "Western Pact" that they formed the Eastern Pact with Russia, but I ask our eastern neighbors: Why the alliances? C'mon, it is really stupid, and it will lead to war, Machiavelli knew this and for his comments he was killed, I am glad that Medici realized the error of his ways and has left this stupid pact in the dust where it belongs. I think both sides must realize that the alliance system is what is causing such global conflicts, already since Italy left the alliance, new relationships, and good ones might I add, have developed with the Russians, the Russians and Italians are more friendly to eachother than any western nation was to Italy, well maybe not France. I still enjoy taking trips to Marsielles in the summer, and hope that the French can lighten up on their taxes! Ouch!

(I hate being the only one posting... slackers)

                Medici Royal Palace, Rome...

Victor Emmanuel: Yes sire, you have asked for my prescence.

Lorenzo: Victor, no need for pleasantries, we are alone. I have something very important I want to tell you.

                Victor: And what is this?

Lorenzo: I fear that I will die soon, apparently we Italians were not given immortality as Napoleon, Berzerker and Moker were, it seems that we of Adriatic heritage, the Hungars and the Italians were cursed with death.

Victor: What are you saying sire?

Lorenzo: I will die soon Victor, I have made a few stupid mistakes, stupid decisions in my time. I was a horrible king, I have disgraced my father's pact, I have betrayed my allies, and have killed a childhood friend over words. I have not had a male heir, only females, Maria being the oldest-

Victor: But sire, certantly you cannot blame yourself, the pact was weak, the English are heathen scum sire!

Lorenzo: No no, I should have discussed it with France and Spain, I had so much respect for Napoleon and Moker, we could have made great strides, were it not for the English. But Victor, please, let me finish. I have left no male heirs to the throne, I don't believe Maria and Lauren have the stock to rule this nation, especially not at such a time as this. Victor, I am going to give the crown to you, to the house of Savoy...

Victor: I don't know what to say, I can't do this sire. Naples needs me, my family knows nothing but Naples sir. Please, hand it to the Hapsburgs!

Lorenzo: I don't trust them, they are of Spanish and Hungarian blood, I want to keep Italy in the hands of the Italians. Please Victor, take my blessing, it is my dying wish.

Victor: You aren't even dying my lord! You are merely one thousand years old, your father was easily two thousand years when he perished. You are being irrational.

Lorenzo: This land, Italy is becomming too big for its own good. This city in Belgium, Genoa is going to cause problems with the English, the only choice we have is to destroy their heathen culture once and for all!

Victor: Sire, that is insane. We will start a world war over this, you cannot even contend with the English right now, not with our weak army.

Lorenzo: Victor, you do not understand, we only have Belgium to fight, the rest of Italy is safe from English assault, and if we lose our attack what do we lose? Genoa? Pah! The city is worthless as it stands.

Victor: Sire I implore you, Genoa is a key northern base for our nation, we need it for further expansion into the Rhine valley, do not compramise the promise it has.

Lorenzo: We are nearly garunteed victory if we just-

Victor: And what of France and Spain? They have direct access to Italy, as soon as our pikes are dripping with English blood, our cities will be under attack from the west, certantly you must reconsider this plot.

Lorenzo: I am too old Victor, I can feel it....

                  NATION---------------

Pope crowns King Stephen I in Budapest

King Stephen the First was crowned king of Hungary in a Christian ceremony featuring Pope Pious II, the Russian Pontif. The bejeweled crown features a large cross at the top with pictures of Saints and other holy figures around the rim. King Stephen is the first Christian king of Hungary, and has declared the religion the official state religion.
For many decades Russian missionaries have come out of the East preaching the ways of this new faith. Finally this religion has been given to the whole of the nation by the holy King Stephen.

                  Hungarian cartogrophers map entire world!

After an extensive effort to explore the area known as Asia-Minor, Hungarian cartogrophers have announced that a full map of Turkey has been created. Joined together with Western maps generously provided by our Italian friends the entire continent has been mapped out by skilled Hungarian map makers. Rumors of lands known as "Africa" and "Scandinavia" persist, but they have largely been discounted by the Hungarian MapMaking Society, "Our maps encompass the entire world, with the exploration of Turkey there is nothing we are missing. Nothing."

                  Turkish Colony Founded

With the exploration and mapping of Asia-Minor colonization has begun. The first brave Hungarians to set out across the globe to start a city in this untamed wilderness, have successfully founded the city of Komlo. Contact with the Hungarian colony is limited, but it is believed that the colony is prospering. Plans to colonize further are in the works.

Nation considers possible role as naval world power
With the establishment of port cities on the Adriatic, Aegean, Black, and Mediterranian seas the Hungarian nation considers a push for naval superiority in the near future. Others remain critical, Minister of Defense, Michael Toldy says that "Hungary has no intention to set out upon the seas, we have always been a land power and will always be a land power."

                  WORLD---------------

Tensions rise as world inches towards war

The international situation tips closer towards war with every passing year. The old tensions that arose out of the confrontational Eastern and Western alliances have fallen and more traditional terrotorial disputes have taken their place. While land is not yet scarce it is still being faught over, especially in the lowlands region where three world powers have built cities in extreme close proximity to each other.
Tensions are further flared by Italy's decision to remove itself from the Western Alliance. Italy has declared itself neutral in any war to occur between the two large alliances, but the Western powers remain hostile towards Italy's decision to back out of the pact.
Reports indicate that England is the beligerant in this situation, having even payed off German troops to abandon their nation and join as English mercenaries. While the German King Berzerker has expressed his anger no official action or declaration of war has occured to this point.
The Hungarian nation has declared it will honor its alliance with Germany if war is declared. Hungary has also pledged intervention to support Italy against any nation that harms Hungary's newly neutral neighbor.

Estonian uprising in German city of Hanover

The German province of Hanover has been occupied by a resistance movement that has declared the city an independent country called "Estonia" somtimes refered to as "Barbarians" these Estonian rebels have taken complete control of the historically German city. A source in the German government indicates that an effort is underway to mend this broken off province back to the empire.

Barbarians and Belligerents have plagued the German people for centuries now - first, barbarians under the the command of Attila the Hun ransacked our beloved city of Hannover. Then the English pigs intentionally built a city next to Brandenburg stealing its resources for their own!

These setbacks have slowed our progress allowing others
to catch up, however, the German people have added the Lighthouse to our list of wonders ensuring that German mariners will reign supreme on the high seas The British people, stunned by the arrogance of their monarch, have rebelled against him. With his head on a pike and his limbs scattered to the 4 corners of the empire, Dimbleby the Great has come to power. The German republic welcomes him and any peace offerings he brings.

(Sorry I had to jet, so here is the continuation)

Lorenzo: .. in my bones. I have little time, we must make the agreement proffered to the west, Italy must seize the islands, it is our only chance of Mediterranian influence....

Victor: Sire, I am sorry to alarm you at such a fragile time, but the isle of Corsica, which Spain had claimed was already in their control is uninhabited.

Lorenzo: What happened to the Spaniards there?

Victor: They were never there, for all we know they don't even know of the island's existance. Sire, they lied to us.

Lorenzo: This cannot be, surely our men are mistaken. King Moker may be ill advised in his actions towards us, but he would never lie to us over this, are you sure our sailors weren't mistaken?

Victor: Three main isles were explored, Sicily was settled. Corsica and Sardinia were uninhabited, despite Spainsh claims. Sire, we are being, how does it go? Played as fools...

Lorenzo: (slams fist onto table, his knuckles begin bleeding) How could he! That vile- ugh!

Victor: Shall I leave sire (he begins to exit).

Lorenzo: NO! Victor, know this, when war comes, and it will come, not that I will declare it now, but it is inevitable, Naples will feel the brunt of it. Your city, your home city is on the border, you are on the battle front, I know I may not die today, not even tommorow or in a decade, but I will die before you even come close, Victor, I have learned that our allies, our friends cannot be trusted. No matter who you ally with, no matter who you believe, or what you are told, consider it a boldfaced lie until you prove it yourself.

Victor: I shall your excellency, I shall.

Lorenzo: Here (hands two scrolls to Victor) give these to Pope Clement and Pope Pious of Russia, have them make it official.

                      Victor: What is it sire?

                      Lorenzo: A crusade...

                      Victor: A crusade? What?

Lorenzo: COUGH COUGH - Go to Victor, we haven't much time, send the word, God is on our side!

                      Victor: Arivaderichi your highness.... (exits)

I cannot play today, and I cannot play any Sunday in the future, and if you guys are going to say "Okay then, you are out" because Ozzy can only play on Sundays I Don't think that is fair at all.

Ozzy may have come up with the idea for this game, but last time I checked there were six other people involved, and I know at least two others have said Wednesday would be a better day for this game.

I am proposing two solutions. The first one is that we change to another day, Wednesday is best for me, but I am up for suggestions for other days. The second, is one I don't want to do, but may have to, and that is a mutiny against Ozzy. I really want to play this game, and I know Dimble knows how hard it is when you have other things to do and to miss a session, and Joe has similarly said he would rather play on Wed.

So there is probably an 80% chance that I am out as the Italians, but for now get me a sub, and I would appreciate it if one of the following could sub for me:

                          TheNothing
                          Easthaven

If you really cannot get either of those guys, anyone will do I guess.
