Playing in a room of people and start a few skirmishes that fail, only to hear people laughing out loud at the attempt. Much more annoying then king chat gloating.

On the way to the bathroom or the frig for beers I would get a quick glance at another screen but I never tried to pay attention and never saw anything.
But it was fun because we had only three computers set up and there were four of us. So if the extra person wasn't napping, he could sit behind someone and watch their style or just wander around and watch the game develop for everyone. It was amazing what everyone learned. Those little game details that add up.
A great experience overall.

In my undergrad days we had a permanent LAN of about 25 gamers, stretching across 2 blocks of our hall. I don't think I've ever enjoyed gaming so much.
:wistful:
When you can hear the screams from the next block over you KNOW you've pissed your opponent off.
Yeah, it makes it a bit more personal. There were quite a few "TAKE THAT" comments.
But it was great to have players that we've played with for years, long distance, be just a few feet away, sharing a "FEW" beers.

Do we need to read the other thread, or are you going to reiterate them here?

Yep, I checked out that thread.
For the record, I agree with Deity since his position is identical to current RAH rules. But with all rules, any prior agreements takes precedence and from reading, I can't be sure of the order of events.

It was really a blast to kibitz 3 screens at once... knowing in advance when people would meet, seeing the varying approaches to build orders, city site selection, expansion, etc.
Quite fun -- much better than the usual "how's it going, rah?" we see on Friday nights.

I know. I just said I agreed because it was similar. But if it's in RAH rules, we know it has been discussed and agreed to by most of the people in our group. So it would be silly to play any other way.
