What is the Unit Limit in Civ 2?

What is the unit limit in Civ 2? Because there is nothing more ****ing annoying than hitting that limit, especially if you're just building an offensive force.

I've been able to reach that limit in 300 turns if I add one extra shield to all terrain. Not very good at all!

I know the city limit is 256 cities, but what is the unit limit!

The unit limit is 2048 units. Th city limit is 255, by the way, not 256... But that doesn't make much difference.

I captured every city I could find, and maxed out until the notice appeared - the total was 256. It fits more nicely with the other 256-paradoxes, especially concerning the unit's screen (F2 normally)...

With the Casualties, it won't record anymore casualties after the 255 unit of that type killed. And the counter resets to 0 if you have build the 256th unit of tht type...

OK, if you've lost over 255 of one kind of unit in a normal game, you're either a war-monger or just going really slow...

nah - this was a huge 50-turn long war between Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia...huge air forces of Stealth Bombers that would make the USA seem like it owns nothing but flies getting shot down every turn. The war continued until a corridor of my cities made it impossible for the germans and the Russians to attack each other...
