  • Fantastic Worlds confusion

I am trying to load FWorlds onto Windows XP, but whenever I click the setup launcher, I get an error message: "SETUP.EXE is not a valid Win32 application". Something I'm missing? I'm finally sick of Civ III and am going back to the classics after a couple of years, so I apologize for my ignorance.

    Thanks.

And you already managed to install the original Civ2?
Civilization II: maps, guides, links, scenarios, patches and utilities (+ Civ2Tech and CivEngineer)

Try stopping as much of the background clutter as you can - basically everything except Explorer and Systray and trying again - this works with Win 2K & ME

Well, I ended all the other processes and freed up memory. One time it almost worked, and then it said "Internal Read Error on SETUP.INS. Unable to load installation instructions. Error 703." Every time after that it's gone back to the message in the above post.
Bah, Civ II loaded without a hitch.
