Why don't you tape the CDs onto a tape; or listen to the radio

Well, the radio is not really an option either. The monitor interferes with it, so I hear an annoying beep all the time.

But I think I'll manage without either the Civ2 multimedia or my favourite music for the time being...

I still use the cd. For the advisors and the wonder movies.
I hope everybody knows that with 2.42/FW/MGE cd's in your drive you can watch the movies with ToT.
I don't listen to the music, though

I used to use the CD a lot... Then it got scratched... I can't install Civ 2 on my new computer
Oh yeh, does any1 know where I can download the movies for Civ 2? (I didn't copy them before my CD got scratched, and now I can't. I hate the music, so I don't really need it.)
          Thanx!

The first deal has been done.

Someone has just contacted me over ICQ and asked me to send him the music files, it was a 44 MB ace file.

Anyone else interested? I've got 17 MB of wonders of the world music as well. Every single one, apart from that Shakespeare dude. You know hat I mean, that 'oh for the muse of fire to ascend the brightest heaven of invention' dude

I run 2.78 (I think) FW and don't need the CD. This is just as well as my younger brother has the CD. Grr! I've never dowloaded a crack for the game either.

Being that I bought CivII back in '96, the actual CD is in rather poor shape. I can no longer install the game from it, and it's readability (is that a real word?) is a bit shaky. I have a copy of the entire CD sitting on my HD which I have kept for a couple of years now. Whenever I need to re-do my computer for whatever reason, CivII is the first thing I re-install, from that copy. Fitting, since it was the first game I installed on the first real PC I bought.

I recently used the non-official patches found on CivFanatics to go from 2.42 to MGE, then I updated to MGE 1.3 (?) and found a cracked .exe for that version so I could play without the CD. I wanted the "latest and greatest" CivII version, but I didn't want to rely on the sketchy CD I own.

I don't really mind not having all the extras. I play with no sound at all, and the last time I looked at the Wonder movies was probably three years ago. *shrug* I find I prefer to listen to MP3s, and I enjoy the speedy nature of CivII without the visuals.

Funny thing is, given that the CD I own is unplayable, I can not bring myself to get rid of it. It occupies a very prominent spot on my CD rack, and in my heart. I adore CivII, and consider it to be one of the best game purchases I've ever made with my own money (if you count my parent's money from my childhood, I'd have to say Bard's Tale 2 was the best game from that time *grin*). One of these days I'll get off my posterior and see if I can salvage that CD. CivII deserves that much respect.

Nope, I lost my CD a long time ago, and I never play the standard game, so I've no use for wonder movies, City council gets old after a few RL years, and the music is repetitive and annoying.

I don't keep the CD in the drive anymore... because I can never remember to take it in from the car!! I really need to hear 'Ode to Joy' and 'Tenochtitlan Rising' on my way into work, or my day isn't complete.

On a related note, am I the only one wondering if I could make it as an engineering student in Greece?

lost all my civ2 music in a HDD accident... problem is: while the music is easily rippable from CD, the wonder music has to be re-recorded from the movies.... can't be arsed

There are nice programs out there that can rip music from movies just as easily.
