... but as I recall you never did like Caravans & Dips, Ras. That makes Civ III designed for you personally!
Hmmm... is that why I like Civ III better than II? Strictly a matter of taste, of course, but for me Civ III fixes a lot of the things I didn't like in Civ II. It has its own problems of course, but I think the good outweighs the bad.
I stopped playing civIII just after the first patch. It's worthless until mp is available.
I do play CIVII MP twice a week still, for at least 12 hours of fun.

I'd say that Civ2 is the game i play most often...
I have quit playing civ 3 untill it plays at least as fast as civ2 on my old 486 66Mhz....
I mean, with all the scenarios out there, it is nearly impossible to get bored of it, and always a few weeks break is enough to get you wanting to play it again.
Also, i always try new ways for my expansionist-like-hell tactic in many different maps.

I haven't played a SP game of either for a long time...
Please let us know if you feel like playing SP once in a while.
There is a GREAT civ2 succession game started by Julius Brenzaida ('the truest gift of the gods' on civ2 general forum), now close to glorious victory.
You would be heartily welcome as #1 member of the team for the one that should be started after that one is completed.
I have CivIII, i gave it a shot, thought it was okay, but then didn't really play it much. My friends persuaded me to play it again a few weeks ago, so i started a new game. My only problem is that i always get some error when trying to build cavalry and the game crashes. Anyone who has CivIII knows that trying to play through the mid-game without cavalry is nearly impossible... Sooooo i took up playing scenarios for CivII Far more fun in my mind. The only thing i miss is culture/borders, that's the coolest thing in Civ3 in my mind.
Cobwebs cover the Civ III shortcut and the CD is piled under several other stuff.
But SandMonkey is right, culture+borders are the real innovation and I also miss the "III" diplomacy screen, and so, sometimes, I gently remove spiders from their traps and I start to dig in my CD pile and then "click"... I'm on Civ III again.
... still jumping from "II" to "III"....
googol... this is a number!

I still play SP every once in a while. Now that I'm on Spring Break for the next two weeks, I'm looking forward to some more of both Civ II and Civ III.
I never play Civ3; thisgame has been a great disappointment for me.
I still play Classic Civ1 and (mostly) Civ2. And I think I won't install civ3 again until it allows the scenario creation. And, of course, multiplaying.
I downloaded Civ3 a couple of days before it came out over here... I played one or two games halfway through (so I didn't even nearly get to the alleged late-game tedium), then used it mostly to test for deciphering the BIC format and then threw it off.
The funny thing is, I hardly play scenarios and never multiplay. It just adds too little and plays too slow on my (old) PC.
Besides, I'm still only playing at the King difficuly level, so I don't really need an improved AI yet. There are plenty of challenges left for me in Civ2, perhaps including playing scenarios and multiplaying. I also bought ToT not too long ago so there are some more challenges there. And finally, I really don't play Civ2 (or any games for that matter) very often these days, so I don't see the point in spending a rather large amount of money (I would have bought Civ3 if I liked it) on a game that won't have much "impact" on my life, so to speak.
Oh, and another thing, the Civ3 mapeditor was a step down from the Civ2 mapeditor... It has no overview map, no zoom function, and you can't easily switch between "brushes", And they couldn't even add any improvements like a flood-fill.

If I had known that it is nearly impossible to have scenarios with Civ3 I wouldn't have bought it!
My thoughts exactly. I should have browsed Apolyton before I bought Civ3. I'm so bored of normal SP games... Civ3 will be a great game if/when Mp and scenarios are provided, though.
