  • My first name is Jason, and the whole Greek Legend thing was appealing to me (that's why my parents picked it) so Argonaut is what it got shortened down to.

      • NEW YORK — Eric Clapton let his guitar do the talking Monday night as he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for an unprecedented third time.

Instead of offering a long-winded speech, the soft-spoken British blues guitarist told the crowd of well-dressed rockers and industry movers, "For me, it's about the music. I'm the messenger, and I carry the message."

                  • Thanks for digging this up, ConnorKimbro, now what's Your story?

My name has something of a history to it. My brother took a logic class in 8th grade, and a progression he really hung up on was "all men are beasts. You are a man. Therefore..." when I denied one of the premises he taunted me by calling me a beast for years afterward. to this day, by habit.

Parallelly, I was just getting into computer games which asked my name. At first, I used Jason, a favorite name of mine (but not one of my given names). Later I added adjectives to it. Master Jason. Lord Jason. Later I dropped the Jason and tried other things, including beast. Lord beast, master beast, but that sounds too much like beastmaster, the movie.

I was reeling from name to name, trying out the modifier "father" because I had just procreated, and was becoming involved in my church. "father" isn't an ecclesiastical title in my church, but "father White" (my last name) had a certain ring to it that seemed to fit somewhat.

Then my brother (sometimes known elsewhere as mrbeast666) gave me a modified Tshirt that said "anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a BEAST". the word "beast" was obviously put there after the shirt was originally made.

Well, that chose it for me. I've been Father Beast ever since. I've not gotten tired of it yet, and am not likely to.

On another subject, I didn't frequent this forum much back when it was last active. I had barely registered and spent my time in civ3. From another point of view, ecthelion (chaos warrior, andz83) was not even registered the last time this thread was active before connorkimbro posted.

                      • heh, it's funny because this is in civ2-general, but we had the same threads in the OT when this thread was going too. but i never posted in civ2 general, so i never saw it before.

oh, yes, btw, Ming, this thread REALLY should be moved to the OT, don't you think?

my nick comes from a long time ex-girlfriend actually. i reminded her of two people she used to know. The first's first name was "connor", and she couldn't remember his last name. The seconds last name was "kimbro" and she couldn't remember his first name. so she stuck them together.

Well, at about the same time, i started using IRC, and i became known as connorkimbro on irc. once i got known by that name, i couldn't change it so easily, plus my using it had given the name my own character i think, and i liked the sound of it. so it just sort of stuck with me, and everywhere i go online, i'm connorkimbro. i'm 99.99999% that it's a completely unique name, that there are NO other connorkimbro's in the entire world, so that's kinda cool too, i like being unique.

                        • Repeated dreams of a midnight blue panther led to selecting that name in AD&D days. Then saw a small study on experimental German weapons in WWII in which the Panther V chassis had an open cupola gun mount. This unproduced hybred was called the blaupanzer. Sounded cooler than "blue panther" and had the side effect of removing confusion (as to race and politics) for some folks on a bb devoted to the blues, my favorite music. Therefore, the name.

At least no one did the DL dance the second you posted back then.
