The good news is I finished my turns. The bad news is that number two son wiped out my log. To the best of my recollection, we traded for gunpowder, switched to Democracy, discovered Railroad, and sent a gold caravan to Thebes which netted 648 gold.

On to Julius (with a cc to Paul) and sorry for the bum log.

MGE TEAM : 1710 AD we discover Industrialization, food caravan. 1720 we build Darwin. Magnetism and Explosives discovered. 1740 we build an engineer. 1752 we discover Corporation. 1752 2nd engineer build. 1758 Oil freight.. We talk with the Indians. Give 100 gold and 1 tech, then trade for Metallurgy we were researching at that time and Polytheism. 1762 we discover Electricity. 1764 Gem freight. 1774 We discover Refining. 1786 we discover Refrigeration. 3 caravans to Thebes. About 800 gold. 1794 we discover Steel and head for Combustion. 1800 I stop, and wonder what I did wrong (except trade for Polytheism). I can’t celebrate even with 100% luxuries although I’ve changed and improved some land. Can someone tell me why ?

Game sent to Paul. Once again I played a few more turns because Kcbob played a few less. I’m always following Paul’s list of turns. It’s tough without Copernic !

Website updated. And Julius, you couldn't celebrate because you had a caravel at sea.

Well, you're of course right. How come I didn't think about it ? Maybe I thought I already had a transport ! I hope my mistake wasn't too costly !

The game can! I always check the happiness button when this happens. Countless Triremes have been instantly disbanded ... or even worthless alliances dissolved to get them home ...

20-400ad We set sail with a trireme and a diplomat. Exchanged techs and maps with Rome.
21-420ad Carthage is the 2nd most advanced civ, 3-Rome, 4-Egypt.
                        22-440ad
                        23-460ad
                        24-480ad
                        25-500ad

King Skrobism took the scepter from an aging King Marko Polo. This peaceful exchange of power laid the ground work for the changes to come under King Skrobism. King Skrobism established trade with the Roman city of Veii, giving the economy a boost of 104 gold. Strengthened in confidence, the King declared that for now on Carthage would be under new form of rule. He called it the Republic. The Senate, at first put in place by the King of course, elected Skrobism as Consul of Carthage. The year that Marko Polo handed over the throne was declared the Year of Enlightenment and called year 1. For nearly 500 years the Consul would also be know as the Skrobism. The Skrobism Era saw more trade established with Roman Cities. The development of Map Making, and Mathematics. In the Year of Enlightenment 140, a Colosseum was completed in record time. The people were pleased with the family oriented events such as sporting events, public executions, and pro-Skrobism rallies. SKRO-BIS-M!!! - SKRO-BIS-M!!! - SKRO-BIS-M!!! - SKRO-BIS-M!!! - SKRO-BIS-M!!!

In the Year of Enlightenment 260, a strange people were found coming to land in a craft that we only saw in the work shops of our scientists. These new people called themselves Egyptians. Skrobism exchanged knowledge of our forms of government for a technology called seafaring and Peace with these people. The Carthaginians looked to buy an Alliance with Egypt, but when we would not declare war on our eternal friends in Rome, the Egyptians refused. Over the next 100 years peace would be maintained, but not without incident. The Egyptians founded Giza almost on top of our long time fortified position and threatened to break the peace. We withdrew our troops. Years later, an exploring diplomat was expelled from territory claimed to be ruled by the Egyptians. In the Year of Enlightenment 500, we are still at peace with Egypt. But in halls of the consul palace and the senate, it is no secret that the Egyptians are distrusted.

The Colosseum was the place of much celebration in the Year of Enlightenment 400. Brave pioneers were given a hero's farewell as they were readied for a journey into the unknown. A trireme was loaded and set sail with a diplomat to parts unknown. Carthage is the most advanced civilization in the known world. There are reports of another nation more advanced than us. But how can that be? This civilization has not even made their name known to us. These reports were dismissed and spun to the liking of the Consul of Carthage. "Today we embark on the bold path of discovery. Carthage is the greatest City, no, civilization in the world. Some say that there are others greater than Carthage. But I say, 'Name them!'. Today I do. I name the civilization that is greater than Carthage." (Dramatic pause - the sound of a questioning audience and 'Popcorn! Peanuts! Ice cold drinks here!".) "The only nation greater than the Carthage of today, is the Carthage of Tomorrow!"
                        SKRO-BIS-M!!! - SKRO-BIS-M!!! - SKRO-BIS-M!!! - SKRO-BIS-M!!! - SKRO-BIS-M!!!

The Skrobism Era continued for another 100 years. The discovers were never heard from again. Some say the age of discovery is behind us. Others claim that they can still see the explorers hugging the shores of new lands in the mists of time.
