This is what my front typically looks like by winter 1942/43. It doesnt take alot of risks, which is ideal for a demo-game. Mostly about holding the cities on the river Don.

            Being too ambicious!

Remember comrades that we are playing in a game where the marshal will not reload bad end of turns!

We are also playing harder rules where we didn't move units in the phantom round also. Are we comparing apples with apples here... no!

We must also be honest and think how often we may have reloaded in the past to get such a good result.

It is a risk to do some of what you suggested where if we focus on defending Moscow, Lenningrad, stalingrad well first and then apply extra units to forward strongpoints there is less risk.

I have played some games (with our current rules) where germany ended up in kirov by the end of summer 41 by weakening the main don defensive line for cities where the ai sprawns the most.

I agree with Elrino re what we should expect from the commanders

I was being poetic for historical accuracy, moscow will never be bombed in RF. Moving many units from moscow esp vetran anti aircraft units is critical to the defence of the belorussian front.

                2nd Ukrariun front command

Comrade Paul Hanson after the pillaging of kishenev a group of partisans have hidden out near the mountains. its is imperitive that you sacrifice that unit (are allowed to move partisans in phantom move) asap.

The germans if taking loss's from this unit will rise up in the front and attack us again this turn in repriesal for there loss's.

Make a glorious run towards Berlin, you might make it!

As the commander of the baltic front I can say that I won't try to hold talinn unless specificly ordered to do so.

Personally, I'd like to try and hold Perekop, but the rest of the defensive line should be placed on the River Don, IMHO.
"Paul Hanson, you should give Gibraltar back to the Spanish" - Paiktis, dramatically over-estimating my influence in diplomatic circles.

we should have a defensive line before the front comanders start to move

Narva is very easy to defend and we must try to defend it so the karl's don´t show up
Demyansk is also a city that we must try to defend, if not we'll have german units in the urals and conquering yaroslav
Smolensk and Vitebsk are quite defendable
Perekop is going to be hard but it is not my front

so, we need to agree, do i start a poll with the three options we have??

Surely this would be somewhat up to the independent front comanders?

Personally I'd like to see us hold a line of Narva in the north, Smolensk/Vitebesk in the middle, and perekop in the far south. But that's just from what I've seen people talking. What about holding the Germans on the way to Stalingrad? Or do we just hold them there?

if we pillage a few road squares they will concentrate in Rostov and Vorozneh, that's what had happened in my game
