As with the Chinese, I doubt we would learn much from Japan's maps. I wouldn't give them any tech for it. It's worth sending them Caravans if the Chinese don't want something we are offerring, though. And peace for free is about right; they are not a threat to us at the moment.

We could just build and deliver an Explorer to the Japanese mainland... We *do* have a cease-fire with them at the moment. There is not all that much territory to explore.

Just curious....what's the benefit to be gained by exploring their mainland, unless we're planning to invade, or build a city there? Are we planning to invade? Are we planning to build a city there? Are bannanas really yellow?
Am I asking too much to question the intentions of our renowned leaders?"It's not about whether you win or lose, it's about how many people you can slaugher playing the game...." - BruceTheStupid, 2400BC.

Well, we only know where 6 of their 10 cities are and we don't know where their capital is. It might be an excellent trade route target.

The capital is *usually* the largest in population and trade arrows especially with AI's. I just want to know where Kyoto is so that we can take advantage of the trade possibilities.
We are in agreement!
An Explorer could reveal the blank territory in just a few moves. I worthwhile investment, I think.
