  • Long-term science planning

With the prospects of Darwin's being built in the next term, we should probably plan ahead a bit further than usual due to the gaining of new techs. Industrialization -> Communism -> Espionage won the most recent poll, with Theory of Gravity coming in 2nd. So, after espionage, which path should we travel? See the other thread for my explanations of the benefits of the other techs. You've got 2 days to vote.

Normally I'd go for Theory of Grav or Corporation, but in this game, the clear-cut choice is

    Fundamentalism :

We can then rushbuild all the spies and cavalry needed to complete our utter domination of the planet!

We may need to push toward Steel, unless the AI is still a long way from gunpowder. We will lose ironclads against musketeers, should it come to that. Otherwise, I like Theory of Gravity.

The Indians already have Gunpowder, but have not given it to the Babs or Carths yet. That's one reason I have a Diplomat ready to investigate each Indian city before we attack it. If they have any number of Musketeers at all behind City Walls, we will either need Spies to knock down the walls, or a lot of Cavalry to kill the Musketeers.

At least the Ironclads won't be endangered by the Indians, since they have no coastal cities anyway.

Looking at the voting so far, is there some reason we would *not* want Marines? Riflemen do upgrade to Marines, right?

Actually, according to my tech poster, Riflemen are never obsolete.

Still voted for Amphibious Warfare, if Indians give gunpowder to Babylon and Chartage we can easily kill those defenders with marines should our clads fail.

The only units we'd have to build then are marines, and a couple of engineers to build railroads to each city we're attacking

I voted for Theory of gravity, However i suggest it only if we can build issacs. None of the techs lead to anything we really have an imediate use for so what we should try to find out what the common goal should be and work towards that.

The common goal is IMO to kill off the remaining civs asap.

Therefore I think we better concentrate on military tech.

After Industrialisation and espionage off course.

Recollection says I have had units upgrade to Marines. Am I wrong? (possibly)
