  • Repeatedly held positions - Anticonstitutional?

I know we are heading towards our third term, meaning elections. But I read somewhere that we can't have ppl reprising their roles more than twice in a row. If this is so, we are gonna have major problems finding enough ppl willing to end up in the responsible positions, and even less who are able to DO the job.

I have put a post in the High Council thread for someone "in authority" to answer the question of whether this is anticonstitutional or not, so everyone else use this thread for discussion. Should it be OK to hold a High Council position multiple terms? Or should it be OK to stay in power multiple terms as long as you rotate position from Prez to Vice to Defence etc? Be realists here - at the rate the game is going, we are going to need many more contributors to continue cycling through Councillors without many repeats.

Personally, I think that perhaps we should give preference to any newcomer who can seriously do the job, but if such a person doesn't materialize we should be able to have, say, El Awrence continue in his position of Trade Advisor. Especially if they have done a good job, or they haven't actually needed to do anything! (Have you had much to do there, El Awrence?)

--> the first quote was a proposal I made in the very beginning about the gamerules
-->the second quote is the "constitution" adamsj put up(except for the point of the save only beeing held by the prez nothing of these rules changed)

I see the problem, and I do hope we can get enough fresh blood in here that by the time we get to the 5th ellection our "cast" is completely changed.I myself probably won't be in the 4 & 5 term.

    I have spoken.

Several ministers had next to nothing to do during the first month - we had made no contact with other civs, and all cities were still pumping out settlers to expand. Even with term limits, I'd say they just didn't count during february.

We have something of a constitution. It was never officially ratified, nor was it rejected. As a substitute, we can just do what I suggest.

i think there are being major changes in the cabinet

the sciece minister, the military one and the president is going to change for sure

the trade didn´t have anything to do until now (btw, MrWhereItsAt, do you want to be the next trade advisor? )

the only charges that maybe will continue are the foreign minister and the city advisor,
is not a big deal in my opionion at this moment,

let´s wait this elections and the next ones they will be requested to let their places to newcomers
Second President of Apolytonia, and Vice-President twice

Actually, I think it would be beneficial to have a gradual change in elected officials, with some new people and some experienced people each month. I don't mean just positions (that is already guaranteed), but a new person or two.

It will be helpful if we have more people who gain experience at this new game style.

                              term limits..

We could have our elected officials on a rotation like the US Senate is. In the Senate each person has a 6 year term, but on third of them are up for reelection every two years. The idea was that there would be experienced lawmakers in the Senate at all times. We should come up with a system such as this for our cabinet. Each minister serves a one month term, but one fourth of them come up for election each week. Or something like that. We could have the election on the weekend so that everyone would be able to vote. What do you all think?
