  • Here begins the era of the new republic.

Inside the Great hall that he himself ordered constructed, Zedd looks upon the gathered crowd. The appointment of the representative of the new Republic was designed to be a great festival, there many gifts of worth were distributed to the people and games of entertainment were contrived so that all the people were happy. And to his great delight the people held true to their former king and requested that He lead them as the new consul. Also held forward as new leaders of the nation were:
    Minister of Trade MrWhereItsAt,
    Minister of the guard Bear,
Minister of Science, former advisor to the King, Duke o’ York

And so the years progressed, and here is their tale.

    400

    420
The Great city of Apolytonia reaches 200,000 (size 6, 1 red face)
Some worked adjustment and we get 3 happy and three content.

    440
Now Size 7 we now have 1 peminent red face so Adjust taxes to 20,80,0 and switch 5 workers to scientists. The other two are sent to the Whaling ships and thus research becomes 5 turns with no deficit.

    460-500

    520
TRADE > MASONRY from banking, horses, medicine, pottery, and warrior code.
Tax adjustment required, new setting is 30,70,0 for 6 turns and a meager profit.

    540-580

    600
Start the Xin rotation as food stores are exauhsted.
    Taxes to 20,50,30 = 1 red face and 10 turns to tech (0 G)
    Celts complete Marco’s place

620 Xin once more at 30,70,0
    640 20,50,30
    660
MASONRY > CONSTRUCTION of bank, horse, math, meds, pottery, and warrior code.
New tax adjustment is 50,50,0 during Xin = 7G and 7 turns, two workers remain on whales.

    680
Back to 20,50,30 for non-Xin turns

    700
    Zuluz build KRC

    720
Apolytonia builds first Caravan, beads is the only item that has any demand (Souix) so I choose it. Continue the camel breeding.

    740 & 760

780 Persian city of Persepolis builds oracle

    800 Zulus start Leo’s workshop

820 taxes at 50,50 and with the Xin we will have CONSTRUCTION next turn.

I stop here so that a new tech path can be voted on, I suggest pottery and then seafaring for a harbor.

Strange boats bearing white flags (celts) were spotted briefly to the west as they passed within sight of our island.

    Ministers, take it away.

Was it a Celtic trireme that passed?
I know the AI don't sink, but still.... It'd give us a good idea of where to look for new land.

So... We are building Oracle, we are not using the mined square, and we have a couple of Warriors that we are supporting with shields that could better be used for production and were built only to trade in for shields. We haven't any gold in the Treasury to buy the Wonder (or whatever we are building it to change to).

This doesn't seem like a path to victory to me. Are we building Oracle with some expectation of switching production to some useful Wonder we will be able to build soon?

Are you looking at the right save

We WERE building camels, or at least supposed to be unless it got switched while I was playing with the Xin process. I will check the save to confirm.

All but 2 warriors and a archer were disbanded and according to previous posts i thought the idea was to keep a couple warriors in case of an AI landing and assault. reguardless we have 7 shields every other turn (non-Xin) and 3 while xinning. I didn't try to change this because i am compelled by even numbers.

Also we have some income but only 2-3G per turn IIRC. The focus has been on science so that we can once again become a celebrating republic, which with a harbor and aquaduct would be easy.

I admit there could be more cash for the cauffers but only at the expense of science, and believe me, every turn I moved sliders and workers to get science down 1 more turn or to squeze out one more gold. Research took priority, though we never researched at a deficit.

All in all i felt it was a good turnset, but if you disagree..... IMPEACH THE MANIAC

Also could someone post the city screen for bear? i leaft the screen shots at home and of course it is the weekend so i won't be back until monday.

And Yes Duke, it was a Celtic Trireme. seemed to move from west to north east. I tried to get a screen shot but wasn't quick enough. This was before the change to size 7.

i have to agree with Zedd here- are you looking at the right save? 820 AD? we are building caravans, and in a Xin turn it would seem. and with 71 gold, have enough to rush a trireme if we wanted to.

and i do agree with cavebear - why do we still have 3 supported military units? the 2 warriors would be better spent on shields - that would be 5 at the time of disbanding, plus 1 additional shield each round per warrior. if we want leo's. i suppose we could disband the archer.

I gotta agree with everyone, you're looking at the wrong save cb. Mine shows Caravans being built.

And my current orders are simple - wht the new Caravan build Gems, as it is demanded in two cities, whereas Gold (the only other choice) is not. Check this right before the Caravan is built however, as this can change.

Thank you kindly for posting the city screen.

Anyway, what is this suggestion that we disband my ELITE archers?! they have commited their entire lives to serving our fair nation, and now you want to throw them on the streets?!

I think we should disband both the warriors for the production shields. Disband them when we need to get something else - I don't think we should waste disbanding them just to get a caravan more quickly.

the suggestion about the archers was for those who would either prefer not to have any support, or for those who might want to try for Leo's and upgrade the warrior to a musketeer (long way down the road at this rate) all the while maintaining support of just 1 unit (and disbanding the archer would give more shields than a warrior). for the record, i think we should keep the archer and lose the warriors.

each round we wait, we lose 2 more shields that could be used for production. with as many rounds that we have spent supporting them in republic, we could have had more production simply disbanding them outside the city. that said, we don't have to disband both this round. if we wanted to rush the caravan, we could finish the gems caravan this round and still have 8 gp (12 after the round) and a warrior to disband towards the next caravan (or other build) next round.
