International Apolyton meeting during the Olympics in Athens?

Hop on a train and I'll be there in a couple of hours.
I might be going to Brussels on business on April 4th.
The initial plan was to make it a day-trip, but it might be possible for me to stay for the weekend (paying for a youth hostel myself - I doubt the company want to put me up in hotel so I can go to a 'poly meet ) and meet anyone who wants to come down.
My train tickets will obviously be paid for by the company, but to be honest I don't know if I'll be booking them myself or if our travel office will do it. I'm still new here.
I reckon I could get a normal return instead of a day-return ticket.
I'm sure there are some Dutch and Belgian posters who could make it too.
Is this worth considering? Shall we start a thread to promote the idea?
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.
A stop in Bruxelles? None of the flights would mean a landing in Bruxelles or transfer there either.
in Greece it would be smart to rent a house or stay with people then in hotels , ..... you can get large villas , and it shall be way cheaper then a lux hotel , ......
Indeed. That's why it would be good if Markos could give accomodation to people. Maybe he could even share his Internet connection.
have a nice day
You too, Panag.

hi ,
a lot of flights from finnair make a stopover in BXL to of load some and load some others , .....
often the flights from finnair are combined with those from an other company , .... with different prices and different codes , yet its the same plane , ......
Markos having people in his house , .... why does that sound so strange , ......

Be my guest.
If it's only that Friday, I think I can make that. I can travel to the border for free, and all I'll need to pay for is the train ticket in Belgium.
yes, that's true, but I was talking about a nonstop charter flight from Helsinki to Thessaloniki. Many regular flights do fly by Bruxelles.
Overall the idea by CapTVK is nice, but we would need a higher level of activity and maybe even some official support from Dan or Markos. Maybe this could be combined to a meeting where the two actually meet each other for the first time. That would be great.

A Saturday, Sunday or bank holiday day return from Ashford to Bruxelles is £70. An overnight stay would add an extra £9 to that.
If I'm doing that I would want to stay overnight and make a full weekend of it. As well as strong commitment from people here that they would turn up on the Saturday or Sunday.

OK.
I can't afford to pay for my own train fare, so I could only come if I actually go on this business trip (about a 60% chance). I can't make a 'strong commitment' right now, I'm afraid.

hi ,
why are you afraid , .....
well brussels is on many people way for rl reasons , its a nice town ones you get to know it , cheaper then some others , the beer is good , just stay away from some areas and everything works out fine
maybe we should make a seperate thread for brussels meets
Exactly. This is getting way too off-topic. Do we want an international meeting or not? I'm all in for a meeting, but I assume there's no real powers supporting it.

Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.
