  • Suggestion: Civ2 FAQ Forum

Over at the Paradox boards, every released game has a special FAQ forum where comprehensive guide threads are stickied. It's similar to the Scenario League's Tips section, but stickying a thread is easier to do than making a new page (well, I haven't automated the task at SLeague yet).

For example, I think that http://www.apolyton.net/forums/showt...&threadid=9791 merits a permanent sticky. However, I do not want to sticky it in the SLeague forum itself because there are far too many stickies there already. The Paradox boards prove that the FAQ forum concept works.

We could even make the Civ2 FAQ forum a subforum of Civ2 General and conserve screen real-estate. That would also give us the option of creating one FAQ forum for Creation and another for Strategy.

To be honest I'm not sure that thread would be of interest to most of the people who visit the civ2 general and strategy forums.

Yes, but I recall there being several Great Library Thread attempts there of indexing useful threads that could instead be summarised as a sticky in the FAQ forum.

Those were for Civ II... and the abbreviations was for Civ III- it's not as if we have an epidemic of people clamoring to post comprehensive FAQs

and the ones we have aren't really that intrusive

I just don't really think that we need this feature

If the admins aren't gonna do anything, maybe it's an idea to have just one (or two) sticky reference threads. A bit like the GL index thread, linking to all the interesting material, rather than making all interesting material sticky.

lets start with a reference thread(the contents of which could also be linked from our faq pages http://apolyton.net/forums/misc.php?action=faq) and see about a sub-forum later....
