I found it. (you shouldn't have said that)
the link to that famous thread is: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=27789

    I'll quote myself:

    Dear admins and mods,

    WOW, THAT's polite !

when I follow the 'Currently Active Users' on the main forum page,
I get a list of +- 15 'active users' and what they are doing right now on the forum.

Why can't I see what all active users are doing ?
And if I can see it, how ?

    CyberShy

    and further:

    Gramphos,

it sounds reasonable that they only want to show the 20 most recent activities. BUT, like you said, it's in alphabetical order and sometimes it only shows 11.............

and eventhough I try to stay polite, and understand it that
the admins have more to do..........
it's quiet strange that they didn't answer a question that has been on this forum for more than 3 weeks.

this is what I said after 3 days. Is it or polite, or what?

        Markos

CyberShy, I think he just didn't consider the other request REASONABLE.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

After I bumped the thread for about 4 weeks

          LOL @ rah.

Markos, what about these last features? Or am I out of spare questions and should I shutup for the next couple of months

on the forum I created, posts you didn't read yet have another color.
                you've written a forum script?

                    well

                    a) the idea of showing who read a post is not possible on our forums since the result a while after the posting of the message would be to show the hundreds of members who passed by the forums, read some other posts and left a mark that they visited. session info showing you exactly what you have read is temporary

                    b) the idea of having different colors for unread posts is probably not that necessary. if you click on the button to be taken on the first post after your last visit, everything below is new. no real meaning in showing it in a different color

Markos: not quite. As many have stated, the whole read-unread thing doesn't work often. Me too, when I click on first unread post, sometimes I get stuff I've already read.

                          a) I can understand that. My board has only 40 visitors, thus more than 20-30 at most will never have read a message.

                          b) I did it with anchor links as well first, but for some reason that doesn't always work. That's because you're first lead to the anchor, and after that the page loads further. ie. pictures, which stretch the thread, so you're not located at the last post anymore.

                          But the button works great!
                          thanks for that again.

ah wait, you do it session based.
I store those things in documents.
Every post in my db is a document, it contains a field for the readers. That field will be there forever.

You can't store additional info in the posts? There's not one document for every post? I don't know much about anything but lotus domino.........

I'd like to point out that the new button they just added does not mark the thread as having been read. Apparently, it logs you as having left the thread before it posts your post.
