Why does Apolyton insist on using a different naming convention from the rest of the Civ2 community?

Patches only have altered game files, no scenarios or maps

That's called a ModPack. One plays on random or pre-created maps in them.

A modpack contains a scenario and altered game files

This would be a Scenario that is placed in a subdirectory of civ2/scenario/.

A scenario file contains only scenarios, no altered game files(graphics, text)

Now, this is referred to as unpublishable feces in polite society.

Would anyone care to disagree, eh?

    Ain't that a map?
    Concrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?

I don't think that it matters anymore as 'Poly doesn't seem to accept new Civ 2 stuff
'Arguing with anonymous strangers on the internet is a sucker's game because they almost always turn out to be - or to be indistinguishable from - self-righteous sixteen year olds possessing infinite amounts of free time.'

St. Leo is absolutely right, Mark. It has lead to unnecessary confusion in the past, and it's so easy to mend!

            it's tradition now

It would be "tradition" if your downloads site had mindshare. It doesn't. Sticking with it is like sticking with menus that require clicking-and-holding in an OS because that had been a feature since 1.0.

P.S. Do you have time to explain why I haven't received a DB yet?

Earlier, I had mentioned that the boundaries between modpack and scenario were quite clear. It seems that scenarios have started to overlap beyond their limits and they may appear almost as if they are a modpack. Many of the high quality scenarios modify the units, sounds, people, terrains, and icons. They even modify the rules.txt, game.txt, advice.txt, tutorial.txt, labels.txt, and city.txt. All this is in addition to the events.txt (if you have Conflicts in Civilizations version or higher). There are more modifications in some scenarios than a lot of modpacks on the net. Yet, there is still a very significant difference between modpacks and scenarios. Modpacks do not have a scenario file.

Markos, its also the custom in other areas of the site...

CtP/2 files the system as St Leo explained.

Maps (no altered files, new map - i.e. unpublishamble except as a resource )
Scenarios (new map, and altered files)
                    Mod (altered files, no map)

Patch - Official Mod, altered *.exe
                    Concrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?
