Should non-gamers be second class citizens at Poly?
The term "second class" does not really apply here. This site is built, maintained and frequented by gamers for gamers. Non-gamers are welcome to visit the site as often as they wish, and the Off-Topic forum is a perfect avenue for non-gaming discussions with gamers and non-gamers alike. Sometimes predominately non-gamers will discuss gaming matters, and certainly the reverse is true.
Will we go out of our way to make non-gamers welcome by offering additional services than the Off-Topic forum that cater primarily to non-gaming interests (and the chat room could be used for this purpose as well, not that that is what it is intended for)? The answer is no. However, will we go out of our way to make non-gamers unwelcome? Absolutely not.

I have played civ for years and I still play Civ3 (although sometimes I wonder why), but there's not a lot about Civ that I want to talk about.
So I'm a gamer who is being treated like a second-class citizen because OT posts don't count.
And what's the big deal with letting OT posts count? Seems to me the only difference is that people with a lot of post counts can get their own avatar. That avatar signifies they are part of the community. So am I not part of the community just because I'm on the OT? Would it kill you to allow me to have my own avatar?

HAHAHA You think this is a democracy?
thus it´s important to have class diffences at Poly as well. But since Poly is owned by Markos and Dan they can pretty much do what the **** they like
But I agree with you, OT post should count. Or another wild idea; skip post count alltogether and let people choose their own avatars

My god. We agree bout something.
The world is coming to an end!
"The number of political murders was a little under one million (800,000 - 900,000)." - chegitz guevara on the history of the USSR. "I think the real figures probably are about a million or less." - David Irving on the number of Holocaust victims.
Anything that would make panag a second class citizen (preferably a quiet one), get's my approval
Besides the annoying incomprehesible drivel, he makes me just want to rip the period key off my keyboard
RAH
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
RIP Tony Bogey & Baron O
I even didn't know they removed that one-year-rule...
when did this happen?
I remember it well, it happened about a month before I had been on poly for a year. Reducing me to spamming in Civ3 spam threads (about such topics as Spam and increasing post count) until I got to 500 posts (I seem to recall it took me about a week to get 150 posts - which is about 20 times my usual post rate)
After all that blood, sweat and tears in the spam threads I'm still using the standard Fusion Engineer avatar. Go figure.
