Of those cities, I think LA, New York, and DC are out, due to high cost of living. Of the remainder, I think Dallas and Chicago would be the best two options. Personally, I'd prefer Chicago, as I've never been before, and I'd also tend to think there is more to do/see there, but I'm open.

Does anyone agree/disagree with that rationale?
    Howabout Miami?

Why, then we could go to the many fine parks in Orlando.

    • True, but I dunno...it's kinda expensive, and finding a decent hotel near the parks would be hell, plus none of us live there to be able to sorta show us around.

      • I've been to Chicago quite a lot.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust!

          Okay, well....

          ::scratches head::

Then, I think Washington DC would be a great place. Could come in by way of BWI, which would be cheaper than Dulles. Also, we have the optiuon of taking "day trips" to any number of places (DC, Busch Gardens, Baltimore, though why anyone would want to go there I don't know...)

          • I agree DC would be great.

            Two points though:
            1)Expensive as hell
2)Does it have much of a nightlife targeted towards people our age?

DC would be great during the day though, I've been twice and I love it.

            • DC wouldn't be bad, considering a world summit wouldn't necessarily be about a night life, but more of a meeting in one of those hotel meeting rooms designed for class reunions and such.

I don't know how easy it is for people to get there, though...

Yes, that's true. My main concern is the cost of living, though - I could probably swing it, and if everyone else can too I'm cool with it, but OTOH it IS expensive.

                • poll #2 should be "how much money are you willing to 'donate' to the cause"

Then again, Markos should use a months worth of ad revenue to pay for it

                  • I have lived in Orlando btw- not Miami- they are far apart. It would be difficult to do both.

I still can find my way around Orlando- I think . I still have my street map I had back in the early 90's. I sort of remember the Ft. Lauderdale area north of Miami. Although I was drunk at the time. But mostly just went up the street adjacent to the beach and went bar hopping. We also did a tour of the strip clubs while our ship was moored there.

                    • and I still have to go with Vegas. Great night life. Good outdoor activities. Major international airport. Many direct flights to Vegas. Hotel rooms out the yin-yang. We even have motels with toxic mold if you prefer. And with a short drive we can devirginate some of the younger Apolyton posters

                        • we have one place I know of in Vegas where you can get hundreds of different types of beer. I haven't been there, but their selection is amazing. Most bars here have amazing selection of beers. Unlike places in Mississippi I have been to where you are lucky to find anything not budweiser

                          • I'm all for Vegas. It's great for this kind of stuff. But since Dan said he and Markos weren't interested, this is all a pipe-dream anyway.

Too bad. I would probably have been lots a'fun.

                            • Bummer on the word from DanQ. That doesn't mean nothing can be done though. Just takes someone to step up, gather opinions, develop a consensus, and propose the site and the date.

Whoever can drag, crawl, or swim there is in.

                              • Unless there's some official clout somewhere, things that rely on "someone" doing something tend not to happen.
