I was doing a search the other day and i realized that i can't find any of my posts beyond december of last year. Why is that?

I think that has to do with the GameStats problems, the moving to a Greek server etc. The result was that the archives were "lost", and they probably won't be coming back.

DanQ answered this question in an earlier thread today...

The simple fact of the matter is that any threads that are not in the forums, either in 'active' or 'archived' modes, for all intensive purposes no longer exist (excluding the possibility that someone might have saved a thread or two to their HDs or an external storage device). The reasons for this is a combination of, amongst others, a) switch from Ultimate Bulletin Board (UBB) to vBulletin (vB) in May, 1999 and b) our sudden server move in January from GameStats to our now extended temporary host in Greece.

If someone has a copy of the thread, you could always make a request for it (in the Off-Topic forum) and see what kind of response you get. Whether or not you are successful in such an attempt, they will not be returning in any shape or form to our forum database.

        ...
if they no longer exist then why doesn't that decrease your post count?

Because the postcount is simply a number associated with your login that increases everytime you post (on topic). It isn't a number directly based on the total number of your (on topic) posts in the database.
The only thing that can reduce your postcount is a PCR.

I think VBBoard was added in 2001, not 1999... I seem to remember

Ming I liked your old avatar better too. The original flash gordon series beats anything made later!

Wait a minute, Dan said the word archived! Where are the archives then? I want to look at some of my old threads that ended up there.

The word "archived" was reference to individual thread(s) that may have been saved to HD.

Where? I'm sorry. I just don't see them on the forum front page.
