Civ3 loses out to EU2 and Empire Earth in pc.ign's Strategy Game of the Year

Mmm, EU2 is finally getting the laurels it so justly deserves.

You can play EU2 as a TBS or a RTS simply by adjusting its settings. I play EU with every significant event set to pause the game. So its a 365 turns per year game where the computer hits 'end turn' for me automatically when nothing significant happens

I think they are right in categorising it that way because the game has far more in common with TBS strategy titles than realtime clickfests that claim to be strategic. I can only assume EE got pushed in to give the category some competition.
