        • Why would I look for an excuse not to go? I've put a lot of effort getting to meetings in the past, and would do so on this one, but being in Cardiff from 03:55 until 08:00 (while waiting for a connecting coach) isn't something I'm terribly keen on, and that is what is necessary if I wish to spend more than about an hour in Bristol.

The suggestion to get the train from Bristol to Reading, and then Rich to take me to Birmingham to get the train is appreciated for the generosity of MikeH and Rich, but it will set me back almost £100 in coach and train fares along the way.

And I don't have that kind of money lying around.

          • Okay, what does everyone want to do in Reading and Bristol, then? I have this house in Tilehurst I'd like to firebomb...

            • OK Stew, we'll stop pestering you.

I believe the plan in Reading was to go to the After Dark late on but we can do whatever you want before that, not really too keen on firebombing but I can put you on a bus to Tilehurst if you want to do that.

              • Perhaps some lighter act of vandalism, then. It's my Landlady's house.

                • I remember you mentioned that. Perhaps it'd be better if we keep you away from it to resist temptation.

It's bloody awful. However there is a multi-storey carpark only about 100 metres away from the pub we'll be in. Just head up Park Street from the centre and follow the road around to the left. The entrance is on the left, and if I remember correctly it's quite cheap at weekends.

                    • Do trains in England have anything against drunk 19 year old Americans trying to catch rides? Just curious, no particular reason

                      • Well it is a shame, I am sure some nice Apolytoner would be willing to put you up in Bristol overnight *nudge, nudge, wink, wink*

Otherwise, Cardiff is a very nice place, although I don't think there is a great deal to do there in the early hours of the morning

Heck no, a few years ago they even let a drunk 18 year old drive a train.
