Babel (www.babelmedia.com) has been appointed as the exclusive localisation test house for Infogrames Europe. The leading services provider will carry out localisation testing on the entire range of the French publisher's new and re-published titles.
This deal is the latest and strongest indicator that the games industry continues to adopt the model of outsourcing services to specialists such as Babel, and comes soon after Infogrames announced a 60% increase in revenues for Q1 2001.
Babel will be testing in up to 10 languages using highly trained native speakers who specialise in interactive entertainment. The first Xbox and Gamecube titles will be tested before Christmas.
Algy Williams, Managing Director of Babel, was delighted that the deal had been secured. "Infogrames went through a six month selection process with suppliers throughout Europe, and we're delighted that they have chosen us. Infogrames now use our entire suite of services from testing and localisation to web design and viral marketing. This deal confirms us as the leading services company to the games industry," he said.
Babel's recent work for Infogrames has included the design and localisation of product websites for Monopoly Tycoon and Grand Prix 3, planned viral campaigns for MX Rider and Splashdown, as well as localisation on titles such as Sonic GBA and Test Drive Off Road.
Jean-Marcel Nicolai, Quality Director of Infogrames Europe said: "We are extremely impressed with Babel's professionalism and quality and we're looking forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship."
