  • CTP2 is better

I was going to buy Civ3 3 until i found out that it does not have multiplayer now i will just download the warez version of it.
Thats about all its worth for a try.... its so boring playing singleplayer, this type of game really has to be played multiplayer for a challenge .... I play CTP2 multiplayer at least 3 times a week and the game kicks ass i can't believe the guys that did Civ3 could not work out how to get multiplay working, what does that tell you about the rest of the game ?
I read some threads from some people who say they don't play multiplayer only singleplayer... these people must have a boring life or they are afraid of a challange .. maybe they just can't handle losing to another human.... I have never played CTP2 on the internet and i don't know why people think that multiplay has to invole the internet ? LAN is the way to go ... there is no better way to play this type of game and it only takes a few hours to play the whole game through once you play it this way you will never have to sit in front of your computer pretending that you like it singleplayer ever again....

The reason you play multiplayer CTP2 is because the AI in that game rivals Civ 1's. CTP2 AI is crap. Civ3's AI will be good.

Ah yes you're new to the forums...

Look for all threads started by Yin26 and you will see that this topic has been talked about to death so I won't argue with you.

Asesino... when did this become your forum???

Not another MP vs. SP troll....

I've never played any civ games except SMAC as multiplayer. Does that make me any less of a person? NO. Firaxis has (hopefully) made civ3 SP enjoyable, which is why I have my copy reserved.

CTP2 sucks! It is nowehere near as good as Civ II Gold and it's not gonna come close to Civ III.

Unless you are playing mini-map with 3 civs (which IMO is BORING), the game takes much longer than this. The problem with multiplayer is that the game takes too long. Multiplayer in a game like AoK is great since that game takes about 1 hour to play, but civ takes at least 20 hours per player, unless you are playing with a tiny map with few players, which is just not my game. I want 16 civs on a huge map and this will be too difficult in MP.

Also, not everyone has 3 hours straight to play every night, which eliminates LAN games.

                ROFLMAO

CtP2 could easily rival Civ3 by now. Everyone saying it sucks has not posted in the CtP2 forums for well, as long as I've been there. (with the worthy exceptions of Splangy and Wittich <x>).

Civ games are difficult to MP because of the long time needed, but LAN and PBEM are hugely successful with CtP, and Civ3's delay on that will be a bummer.

I prefer SP because of not having copious amounts of internet time or an LAN, but even so I'll be playing CtP2 along with Civ3 for a while yet.

Yeah- why wasn't this thread just closed instead?

But of course, when I see a comment like 'CTP2 is better', I have to show up...

CTP isn't even worth the voltage I am wasting to post this reponse.
