  • Mod For A Day

I think everyone should be given the opportunity to be a mod for a day. This would encourage a sense of responsibility and greatly increase the maturity level of the site. Sure we would have to put up with those who would abuse their power.

    Provost
    Eli
    Horsie
    Among others

But on the other hand you learn so much about a person when you give them a little power.
Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We are evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go. I'm surprised you didn't know that. --Saul Tigh

And then as a one-day-mod you could ban MarkG, DanQ, Ming, etc.

Hmm, I have a feeling this has something to do with a conversation of last night.

They would see things differently from the other side of the street, that's for sure.

God Sprayber, I am surely such an irresponsible oik

Why do people continually have a go at me when I do nothing wrong?

If I were mod for a day

I would take the rules back to what they were about 2 years ago - multiple threads, high spam tolerance, Ming coming in and going "Oh my, oh my!"

It was great when Ming got all flustered and panicky after he saw what the kiddies had been doing in his absence He'd try and clean it all up before MarkG came online

                      Ah those were the days
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

Now we all know that Ming wields the real power around here. Now MarkG is scurrying around before Ming comes online, making sure all the forums are squeaky clean and all the crashes have been covered up.

He knows what a vile temper Ming has. It is reputed once that after a major forum crash, that Ming posted a big cowsh*t all the way to Greece to show his disgust.

Things have really gotten civilized since we starting having mods. Why I can remember when the forums were unmodded and invasions caused the site to be threatened with shutdown...[/old West voice]

And recall when we discovered how much fun you could have with double logins (sorry AH and PH, you kiddies weren’t here back then ), all of a sudden dl's with names near identical to existent members sprung up, imitating and ridiculing them... Dominikos went berserk when he saw Dominicos, Doiminikos and other twins arguing with him, Gregor made fun of my chocolates, I pestered History049... got banned for a week with it too.

Back then the admins attempted to fight dl's by actively searching for it, but the deluge was too large to handle and it has been given up a long time ago...
