MrFun with what reasoning do you take what you experience as a fact and what other people post as their own experiences as a myth?

As for the last thing you mentioned, we never ever had any kind of direct contact with anyone that Gamestats sold our ad space too(including UGO). That's the whole point of this part of our deal with Gamestats. That they, and only they, handle any matter that has to do with the ads. We have of course made them aware of the problem and the complaints. I'm sure they know far better than us what's the situation in the ad business today. In the end, the issue is out of our hands, whether you or me like it or not.

      Everyone:

I think everyone's experience with the E-Bay pop-up ad depends upon the type of computer one is using, along with the browser. Myself, I have a Macintosh running Netscape Navigator 4.x and when the ad shows up, it remains behind the main screen and doesn't pop up multiple times if the original isn't closed.

Also, someone asked why half their tool bar vanishes when the pop-up window appears. From experience, all you have to do is delete the pop-up window once you wish to exit Apolyton. Otherwise you can navigate within Apolyton without your tool bar (unless it's habit or something).

The ad is especially annoying when browsing with multiple windows open. If you have only one window open the ad will pop up and then the Apolyton window will pop up over the ad. But if I load a page in window A and start reading in window B the ad will pop up over window B, followed by window A popping up over the ad. That means that you have to alt-tab back to window B again.

Also, when you post a reply the cursor will normally be in the textbox. But then the ad pops up and the reply window will pop up over it, but the cursor is no longer in the textbox, so you'll first have to click in the textbox before you can start typing your reply.

                Turn Javascript off.

I've had it off by default for the last two years, turning it back on only I absolutely need to access information on a site that absolutely requires Javascript to function properly.

I have never regreted this decision.

Also, re: suggestion to complain to GameStats/UGO etc. about pop-ups

This is not advisable. Even if our request was succesful -- which I doubt it would be -- then UGO would not be able to sell as much advertising space if some of their affiliates reject certain kinds of advertising.

See the domino effect that gets put into motion if this was repeated enough times over: UGO cannot sell ad space, cannot pay affiliates (e.g. GameStats); GameStats does not get ad spaces filled, looses funds to keep network alive...

Ok, I am going to state some facts that are true as far as my usage of Apolyton goes:

fact #1 - the E-Bay pop up ad pops up ON TOP of the Apolyton window, in spite of the myth that others have said it pops up behind it

fact #2 - the E-Baby window pops up repeatedly, although not consistently, when you're navigating back and forth, in spite of the myth that some people have said all you have to do is keep it open or mininmized to prevent it from coming up again

fact #3 - this pop up window ad does nothing but harm customer relations with Apolyton, and if Apolyton doesn't see the reasoning or the logic in that, or just doesn't give a s**t - oh well

fact #4 - Ugo is the one who can place what ever piece of s**t it wants on here, no matter how much it antagonizes customers, yet Apolyton will not approach Ugo on this matter
                        <img src="/images/blue1.gif" width=100% height=1></font></td></tr></table></center>

fact #5 - Often the pop-up stops the loading of the Apolyton page altogether. A reload order is necessary, which produces another idiotbay pop-up window, etc.

                              Connorkimbro:
I hate to install stuff to get rid of other stuff that should not be there in the first place. As far as I am concerned, this pop-up window must go. One way or the other.

If this weren't Apolyton, I would have left already and if I would visit this site for the first time I would not come back. I suppose Mark and Dan are aware that they are loosing clients with this pop-up. Yet they keep telling us that they cannot do anything about it. Well, that seems to be a fact. So I suggest another approach.

Instead of us wining all the time (which we must also untill it is solved) I would be nice if we could find a way to help Mark and Dan who, it can not be said enough, do a great job. So, let us concentrate on positive solutions for a while. I already mentioned before that I am willing to pay for my fun here. No response on that. It was suggested to e-mail e-bad , some did but that did not help either. Any other positive suggestions?

                                Dan,

I just read in the other thread that "you grow weary of our complaints". Sorry but to me (I own a site myself) is a statement like that to your "clients" unbelievable. We care, that's why we complain. If we did not care you would not see us here anymore. So, I think you should be happy that we only still complain. Many sites just loose clients immediately if they pulled a trick like this, whether you or Mark can do something about it or not.
