One question: do you get paid every time an ad is viewed or every time it's clicked on? If it's the first, then I wouldn't mind having Proxomitron bust just the pop-ups and not all ads, although this surely means more unwanted downloads from my side. If it's the second, then the ad-buster will be permanent for me, with or without pop-ups.

And no, I don't have any grugde against Mark or Dan. If they need support for the site, we can always find clever ways of fooling the ad companies to waste their money for Apolyton.

      Dan, Markos, et al.:

To be fair, my ire — as mean-spirited and horrifying gross as its been on this thread — has been directed at those who designed the ad and at E-Bay. You and Markos are flesh-and-blood human beings and I know that. In th end, we're all one big happy human family, inhabiting this great planet known as Earth!

Holy smokes! I'm starting to believe this actually is the end of the World!!

On my office computer, I took the advice of MarkG and left the pop up-window alone, and no new windows popped up. Ok, still annoying, but could be tolerated.

Now, on my home computer, even when I leave the window alone, new ones keep popping up each time I enter a new forum or even a new thread. Horrible!!

Could somebody please be so kind and tell me which of the Explorer settings I have to alter for this madness to stop? I've tried changing "open new browser" but to no avail. I'm on Explorer 4.x at home and 5.x at the office.

        Arrgghh.....

          Dan, Mark:

You don't seem to understand. We are YOUR customers, not theirs. I'm not going out of my way to fix YOUR problem. I've fixed mine, namely, i killed all the ads on apolyton. Now it's your problem.

Here's the answer to the problem, until something gets done about it.

It's driving me mad! I don't mind advertising, I understand the need for it and accept it fully. I would even accept the odd pop-up if it happen once, I closed it, and that was the end of it, despite it being annoying. But the damn thing pops-up everytime one views a new-page. This is one very aggresive pop-up that is ruining the Apolyton experience for me, and others aswell. That seems clear enough. Get rid of the pop-up, or there will just be less people to advertise too. It really is that simple.

Thanks connor for the link. Pop up adds are bull****. Why does ebay even need to advertise? Its one of the most popular webpages, pretty much everyone knows about it. If this proxomitron really works I don't think I'll ever uninstall it.

This is so pathetic, I don't mind the banners if they just sit there. But if they start poping up, or if they're some java applet that slows down my browser, then all it is doing is PISSING me off. It's going to drive me away. these advertisers are the core of dumbasses. Trying to scare everyone away from the company, trying to get everyone to hate them. Screw Ebay's advertisements.
And screw all the advertisers who keep advertising the same old damn thing. It's even worse when its boring info, etc.

Why don't we all just sent an email or petition to get rid of this annoying popup crap? It's going to kill Apolyton. And i'm pretty sure gamestats doesn't want that. I wonder why its so hard for companies to understand that things that are annoying drive people away!? (not directed at gamestats)

I would say that most people here are turning a mouse into an elephant, so to speak. This is not a big problem. Yes, there is a popup. But:
                        1. It pops up behind your active screen.
                        2. And if you don't close it, no new ones will pop up (at least, they don't on my screen).

                        No big deal

Let me go ahead and click on one of the ad banners now, even though it doesn't interest me in the least , simply because I support this site, and I don't want it to shut down anytime soon.

they piss me off, but i hope something will be done soon, after a few days it'll get intolerable though...

This sort of thing never happens at Newsmax. I guess that's because UGO knows if they did it there they and E Bay probably end up getting a ticking truck full of fertiliser chemicals parked outside their offices
