MarkG if you want ad income put a lot of text links.

    I have banners.

    a) It slows you down

b)The majority of the are vague and or swicth and bait ads.I really like to know where the link will take me before I oush that button.Text link are much more clear.

C)All the time I have active-x disable in explorer 5 because there are a lot of viruses that use active-x conrols.
That means that I cant see flash ads.
Also if internet is congested i also disable pictures.
This does not effect text links.

When i surf the net I click a lot of text links but almost never banners.

    I learned to hate banners.

    So my advice.
If you want more income place a lot of text link ads mayby 6 in the bottom instead of putting new banners.

What advertisers want advertising text links?

None that I can think of. Who'd click on them anyway?

Oh and MarkG the apolytot logo is 16 K
If the ? makes browser reload whole page then this 16 k must be reloaded every time.
If that the case can you please compress it to a jpg ?
With ulead smart saver you can reduce it either to 8k with no difference is quality or 5k with a slight deterioration to quality.

16 k is the size of an extra banner.

                Here are some suggesstions:

                1. If both of the ads are of equal length, put them both on the right side, and put the Apolyton logo, the pull-down menu, the browsing tree, etc. on the left.

                2. If they aren't of equal length, put them to the right and flush left. Then flush right everything on the left. Leave a small gap between the two imaginary vertical lines.

                3. Another source for income is to become an associate at Amazon.com or some similar company. Make sure they have games for sale. Then put up links. Whenever somebody buys through one of these links the company will give a small percentage back.

How would you feel if Apolyton closed ?
We would all get a pernament vacation.
                  If you listen at news
you would now that there is nasdaq collapse dot.com collapse and the web advertising brings much less money now than before.
Would you like to have to pay 30 -60 $ per year just to post in apolyton ?

90 % would leave because they would not like to pay and the others would leave because there would not be many people here.

Its my guess that the admin do not like to pay for bandwinth from their own pockets.

So they must find a way to make some money out of this forum.

In my opinion one of the things that this forum does is support civ ctp and smac games.

For example the I was very ambivalent about buying ctp2.

I bought it because I knew that wes would make a medievil mod with the help of apolyton community.

I would not buy it otherwise.

I am actually surpised that the companies that make these games dont advertise their products on apolyton.
Not to sell more but to give some kind of financial support.Because if the apolyton community closes one thing is for certain. They are going to sell less games.

Make it smaller or get rid of it.(use the Snapcase to english translator )

If you make it smaller you can put a link to a glorius big huge version.

Also do you offer banners for people to put on their websites to link to apolyton ?

Something in your post ((mr. smarta$$)) suggested that you might think that the admins earn a lot of money from this forums.

dude, you are way off.....the "$$" was just to replace "ss", so it wouldnt get censored. It had nothing to do with money.

Where did you pull that story from anyway? Who ever said that the people who work for apolyton make a lot of money?

Doesnt matter. We're getting off topic, so I'm stopping.

                                http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/archive/15870.html

When CNET announced last week that it was to pull the plug on its Gamecenter Alliance, owners of gaming sites sat up and paid attention. The one network that was expected to survive beyond all others will, at the end of the month, be history.

And when it emerged two days later that the UGO Network is slashing its affiliate payments to $1 per thousand ad impressions, a lot of people started to get very nervous.

The online gaming scene has been a staple of Internet life for as long as most participants can remember. It is a place where friendships are formed, careers are built and sites run by individuals or small teams can put the big boys to shame.

Most gaming sites are funded entirely by advertising revenue from affiliate networks.

An unnamed UGO spokesperson told Gamers.com: "Right now in this market, it's difficult for any entertainment site to survive."

The situation affecting UGO is reportedly so bad that if affiliates don't play ball and negotiate a lower advertising rate, the network will cut payments regardless - and risk being sued for breach of contract.

MarkG will Apolyton make it ?
