  • That damn monkey is shocking my browser!

Mark, or anyone, every time I load a page with the 'shock the monkey' ad in it, my browser (Netscape 4.76) slows to a standstill... It's quite annoying...

    Anyone else have this problem?

        Hehe!

Well, if I shock it and then immediately hit stop, I can make it quit running...

            CyberGnu, et al.:

I, too, despise that "shock the stupid simian" ad. I made the mistake (twice) of quitting out of my slow-as-molasses browser while it was running. Lo and behold, my computer ended up in an infinite applet loop!

Geez! Nothing like a good, solid reboot to snap the computer out of its simian-induced misery.

Every time I see an annoying ad that's flashing and interfering with my reading the text - or slowing down the browser, I just hit Esc. Zapp! Instant ad kill.

. The page load that never ends becasue of continuing animation on the adds can even choke internet explorer on occasion.

I just checked my CPU meter and sure enough, when that stupid monkey ad is showing, netscape takes all available CPU time.

Mark and Dan: Can you alert the ad folks and get them to pull this one? It is very annoying.

Thanks to a little Mac utility called WebFree, I have never seen the ad in question.

Hmmmmm, no one's emailed us about this... sounds like a browser/browser version-specific problem(?)
