...and why would you want ???

Not for the grand-kiddies, is it?
      actually, in some ways, yes

anyways, this way I can easily look up things in the future... for example, I actually saved the sept 11th thread... but lost it to CDRW corruption! and if It had not been corrupted, it would have been a historical event.

and some threads are saved for amusement value.

So, you have to visit every page on the thread and save the source. That's not "easy", is it?
I don't save the 'source' per se- I save the entire thread- in addition to the coding- so I see apolyton as apolyton really is displayed on the internet (but without images)

If I would write it out right here: yes
If I won't write it out right here, I guess not.

But it involves something that some people would describe as 'hacking'
I've told Markos about the leak about 1 year ago.
It's not really a leak though. It just gives people the option to show more then 75 posts per day.

What manner of person would *do* such a nasty thing?

A person who wants to see more than 75 posts in a thread, pherhaps?
I didn't do it. 75 is enough for me.

I think I invented it last year when the highest option was 40 or something.

I use 40 and I don't think more is better. Any higher and it takes forever to scroll down the page.

That's true, pherhaps I'll go back to 40 as well.
But sometimes more has advantages as well, if you're replying to much posts in a thread.

Errr, I was making a joke about the time we both got banned for using this trick in a similar manner, albeit more visible.

I use 50/page as it is a nice round number.

More helps if for any reason you don't want to flip between pages. For me they load virtually instantaneously anyway, so the sweet spot is around 40. Any less and regardless of loading times I'm flipping pages too often.

you're probably killing the server with 1000ppp

                      50 is my favourite, because it's an "even" number (2 pages = 100, 10 pages = 500 posts)

what i would like to request, would be more than just the previous and the next page linked with page numbers... oh my, miserably formulated.

well, currently in a 10 page thread, when you're viewing page 5, you'll see links to
                      << 4 (5) 6 >>

                      i'd prefer
                      << 3 4 (5) 6 7 >>

and on the forum and subscription view, more than just the first 4 pages.
                      currently:
                      ( 1 2 3 4 ... Last page )
                      i'd prefer:
                      ( 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8... Last page )

this is one of the very few things, CFC imho does better (please don't burn me for heresy!)
