We could create a background CPU client for Apolyton members that would screen OT for intelligence in new posts, sorta like SETI@Home except the chance of discovery being somewhat lower.
I don't agree with you. Brevity is the soul of wit. There is a certain art to expressing oneself in a short and succinct matter. A long post can actually say less than a short one.
I surely will not claim that a small post has less quality than a large post, though about a small post one can doubt that it has been made just for the purpose of spam while a large post will not be made for that purpose.
Someone even deserves a +1 for typing such a load of text
Another nice feature might be a timer that keeps track on how long it takes you to finish your post.... (only the time one is typing is counted)
And then it should come with every post in the thread, so we can laugh at each other, like:
WOW it took you 10 minutes to finish that 138 characters post! That's really a waste of time!

I propose a ratings system similar to that on other sites. If you approve of someone's post, they get some sort of a reward (perhaps a +1). Dissaproval gets a -1. This would sort out the problem of witty posts, and quoted dribble.
But your probably going to have more people rating other people than threads.
And imagine:
there are 10 threads in the OT with 50 posts each.
There are 500 people online. 10 of them rate each thread.
100 ratings.
However...If those 10 decided to rate each poster, then the number goes up to 500. If they do both, 600!
Not significant (i'd hope), but if Apolyton is ANYTHING like Eventis....
And again, its a flawed system: They probably wouldn't be rating based on whether the post was insightful or not, but rather on:its a friend/political ally/whatever side landed up on your coin/whatever.
It'll be a populairity contest, not a post-content rating.
And since I'm a right-wing christian on a left-wing atheistic/agnostic site I'll most probably have a -124060 postcount.
