      Always a prudent move

the change that the IGC made, is to the flag that Iraq used prior to 1991. It was not made by the US. The 1991 flag WAS made by Saddam however.

However Im ok with the 1991 flag here, since Mark says thats the one on the source he uses. Whats confusing is that he says he uses the UN as the source for the flags, and I cant find member state flags on the UN site.

Yeah, I just looked again and I can't locate it. I wonder if it is some type of companion site??

I bet its either an unofficial site, or the CIA fact book, and someone's memory is playing tricks on them. Of course i could be wrong.

I agree. The new Iraqi flag should be the U.S. flag. Instead of 50 stars, though, it will have 51 stars.

no, as i have explained in the past, the flags we have are a package we used when we installed the vbulletin hack

but there's got to be some page on the UN site with all the flags of the world.

not that any of us can find. The UN site has lots of interesting info about the UN, but not info on member states. Guess they figure you can go to the member states sites and get that. In the absence of that the CIA factbook is accepted as a standard internet based reference. And of course they have NOT updated the Iraqi flag. Yet.

I spent a good hour going through a ton of info on the UN trying to find flags. The only thing that I can find is the flag court in front of the building.

I agree LOTM that the CIA factbook is pretty much the definitive source on this. In any event, the flag hasn't changed so Mark shouldn't be hasseled about changing it...yet

We should wait until Dubya leaves office so we won't make these changes, then hafta bug MarkG to make more.
