No, this is evidence that some people need to look at other parts of the site than just the (OT) forum

Hmm. It appears the waiting period between Civ releases is shortening ... now if only Civ III would be ported in its entirety to the Macintosh, I'd be even happier. In the meantime, I might need to buy an el cheapo PC.

The OT is the most important part of the forum. All news should be there.

that seems like a lot of projects to be working on at once. They aren't that big a company are they? I'm cynical, I don't see much greatness happening for civ4. But we'll see. But what it really needs is innovation. And innvoation often starts with one man, or a small group of men. Not a large company.

Well, then I guess the entire staff except Ming and MtG might as well resign our jobs, as we do all our work outside the OT

And even in the main OT page there are 4(!) links to the news in question. Do we need to read it to you? (Oh wait, we already do...)

Not nescessarily. Civ 1 came out in 1991, Civ 2 in 1996, Civ 3 in 2001. Figure Civ 4 is just starting developement. Release date probably Q1 2006, including delays. 5 years will pretty much stick.

Civ4 already announced? Impressive! I for one would have no problem with a new forum.

A forum is premature. I'd use this news to kickstart the Civ: Past/Future forum.

What, you mean there are more staff than Ming and MtG?!?

Here is Jeff Briggs' quote on the development cycle:
"We have three phases of development-prototype, production and final. The prototype phase lasts about a year and the production…we try to keep to about a year. We like to have two things in prototype and one thing in production at the same time. That's makes it possible for us to stagger our releases."
From this, I'm guessing, the goal will be a Christmas 2005 release.
