Hello, when i try to download any flies i get this message,

I am logged in so it's not that - any suggestions?
I'm using Apolyton directly(not through my email etc) and have no other programs running? It's a new problem - I've downloaded posted files before(like game Mods etc), and no settings have been changed that I am aware of. I don't think i've been bad(to get banned)

You might have clicked on the wrong icon. That always appears if you try to edit somebody else's post, unless you are a mod.

No it's not that - when i click on any file to download(e.g a zip file on someone else post that they have attached to be downloaded) then i get this message every time. I'm not trying to edit anything and i've downloaded plenty of times before - now i just get the message above?

Your user access settings might be messed up. An admin would have to look at it to see, though.

As far as I can see, it says that all access options are default. Maybe a cookie issue?

Ok.....thanks for the pointers, I've got accept all cookies set in my browser but still no luck.
I have found out this strange thing. I can download fine from links that take me out of Apolyton to peoples own websites. But any file that seems to be stored at Apolyton gives me that odd message. I've tried from different locations, using different ISP's and still the same problem?!

it's not an isp issue, it's a browser issue

I'm running IE 6.0 on windows98se, and i can see the description of the file e.g. 'hoplite.zip' which is the link to the file. Normally when i click on it i would get the normal download file promts, but now i get the message at the top which is an Apolyton message.

If it's taking you to the "you aren't allowed to access this" page, then it definitely sounds like vbulletin is having problems recognizing your user permissions.

Have you tried doing this on another computer to make sure it's not your computer doing this?

@ ixnay, yeah i've tried from 4 different computers, all simular setups(IE and Win98) and three of the four are in different locations with different internet connection.

                        Try this:

                        1. Clear out all the cookies
                        2. Clear out all the temporary Internet files
                        3. Follow the instructions on this webpage

Thanks for the pointers Urban Ranger, and to others who have offered advice.I followed what you and the site(microsoft) suggested and it still doesn't work - i guess it is a new IE/98 compatability issue(probably to do with recent updates and to force 98 users to upgrade!). The pc's i use are at work and seem to have been updated. I've noticed another glitch and that is i no longer see all the graphic attatchments that i used to be able to(was that what you meant Gramphos?), there is a thread here on the issue so i'll have a look at that.
