Definitely a lateral one, I'm afraid.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

In other news, In answer to Ming's idea- I would concur with the idea of an announcement at the top of every forum section with links pointing back to this thread. It seems the most efficient solution... and if we have a second thread started for a Euro Meet then the announcement could be modified to reference both... and if this spreads out to many threads- then the subforum could be created...
And I would really like to go But as always there´s the financial issue. But if there is a european convention I´ll do my very best to scrape together the money needed. After all this might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunityI love being beaten by women - Lorizael

Sixth and finally for now, on Apolyton clothing. If this event takes place, and I hope that it does, with certain conditions applying those who participate and order a pre-designated Apolyton hat from CafePress could be 'reimbursed' with a one-year initial subscription or extension to their existing subscription to "ApolytonPLUS". There would need to be a method of verifying attendance at the meet, after which time the 'reimbursements' would be applied. You could order additional Apolyton 'wear' at the same time too if you like.

How about insisting that everyone who is going posts a reasonable picture of themselves in a specially-created thread. If you're worrying about identification that is.
This isn't going to be too difficult, given how long those without the photo capability on their regular computers have to find another way, and besides - we know what a good deal of regulars look like anyway. (Although Ming and rah are in fact 100ft tall, can leap tall buildings in a single bound, and might pose problems finding accommodation )

Interesting idea, especially so soon after Civ IV is released. Sign me up.
This reminds me of Quakecon in Dallas.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Interesting idea ...but too far away for meThe Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power.

Count me in. We need to look at a "Headquarters" Hotel in the area. We could most likely reserve a block of rooms at a substantial discount if we set dates and move soon. Usually a hotel will also set aside a couple of complimentary rooms if the booking is large enough (Dan and Markos, of course!). The main thing right now is to set some dates.
Perhaps Dan and/or Markos could contact Sid and Brian and check their availabilities and willingness? That seems like a good place to start.
I used to work in Hotels years ago and would be happy to work on the hotel if requested to do so."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic.
