Well, currently I'm playing an H2H game, where I've got 72% of the vote, yet my opponent has many more SPs and is pretty strong still. I'm the PKs plus the EG, meaning 4x the votes.

If the human player can refuse to join, then of course they'll refuse, unless it's hopeless, which diminishes the importance of the supreme leader victory, and makes the PKs more interesting to play.

MP is flawed in this respect, both IP and PBEM play. Only the first human after the SL election gets the opportunity to defy the Council. The others must abide by that decision. If the next human player is pacted to the winner or indifferent, the game can end before it should.

It's not always as you project, Flubber. Once upon a time, I lost an IP game when the University player built Clinical Immortality (already had the EG and a submissive AI Lal) The Hive (human controlled, refused to reject the council vote. I had two carriers loaded with PB's one turn from lauch range..a strike that would have destroyed better than half of the UoP's population and both of the vote multiplying SPs. Should the game have ended then? I answer with a resounding "Hell, NO!"

Well, then you should've hit him earlier, rather than allow him to get so many votes, Mong.

Since this is H2H, your opponent will always have the opportunity to defy the council, unless you decide to pact with your opponent for some reason.

There's no point in a surpreme leader victory, if you essentially have to conquer them in the first place. That's really just a conquer victory.

Also, remember that 75% of the votes is a lot of votes. Meaning, you should have plenty of time to prep for an attack if you feel your opponent is going for a surpreme leader victory.

Okay, since there seems to be some debate over whether or not the game should end if someone is declared supreme leader, I'll put the question out there.

          What does everyone else prefer?

I'll change the rule, if enough people want it changed. After all, this is for fun.

I think we should be able to refuse man... in every case. It seems kinda redundant to be forced into surrendering just coz. of a theoretical flaw.

Not sure where else to post this, but Flubber, I'm still waiting for your latest turn from a few days ago. I'm guessing you forgot to attach it to your email.

He forgot to attach the file for one of our games once too. Just email him back if that happens and ask for a resend.

It happens to all of us once in a while. Although, I always use the zip feature in windows explorer, so the only problem I have is sending it to the wrong person.

I have never seen the rule you instituted nor see any reason for it. If a human player is truly beaten, they will accede to the election result. However if I was in a situation like Mongoose suggests, I would be truly peeved to be declared a "loser". The game parameters clearly contemplate the idea that a player may refuse to accept a supreme leader declaration and I see no reason to tinker with that.

                        Very well,

I'll change the rule back to what's normally accepted since there's a consensus to do so.

Seriously, I got a good starting position and two easy neighbors-- gaians and morganites to get techs-- In game # 3 its the opposite as I was stuck on an arid island ( not one rainy tile on the whole thing lol) and I suspect smh may roll me unless i can pull something out . Thats the thing with terrible game-generated starts . . . you can always pull them out against the AI but with a good human player, no chance
