Good question. In another game (Clone Wars) I made the mistake of calling an election without giving a one turn notice, for which I was chastised by SITS for violating Apolyton Rules. After looking at the Rules thread I could not find a reference to having to declare one turn in advance your intent to call an election, and I asked SITS to locate this rule for me, which he was unable to do, per the below postings:

Prior to my recalling this, why I had E-Mailed Radman earlier today and stated that he was breaking Apolyton Rules for not posting a one turn declaration that he intended to call an election, and he responded the same as I had previously, which was, "Show me", and after reviewing the Rules thread once more, I could not locate anything about this rule: if anyone can locate this aspect of the rules, then please inform both of us for future reference. However, I think that we should all agree to declare one turn in advance our intent to declare an election in the immediate future: the subtleties and inuendo that then occur are some of the best aspects of the game! What does everyone think?

    • Hi there,
My interpertation of the rule is that you have to notify all players when calling a vote, that is before or right after you played your turn. Meaning, the last player of the playing order would have a chance to consult with a player prior to himslef in the order for whatever reason. Therefor I don't see the necessity of actually having to notify an entire turn ahead. My humble opinon as an Apolyton player and moderator of this ASPK II.

      • I don't want and won't accept a one turn prior notification.

What I expect is that whoever calls a council for whatever reason should broadcast that fact immediately upon completion of his turn.

No replay is necessary in this case. Obviously, there had been prior collusion between Darsnan and Radman. (because in my previous turn, Radman lacked all the commlinks to be able to call an election) No offer I could have made, even with the receipt of timely notification of election, would have been sufficient to break Darsnan from that collusive effort.

        • The deepest lie to penetrate is the truth, Mongoose!

I have no issues with Mongoose's proposal of simply declaring in the thread when an election has been called. Lets get this game moving again!

          • Hi all:

To put this issue behind us, please note that there was no funny business or anything else. Just a screw up on my part. As I previously said, had you wanted to redo, that would have been fine. Again, sorry for the mess up! When notified of the screw up I edited by post to let you all know.

            Move to "D"

            • No funny business as far as game rules are concerned, I'll grant you.

What is funny is that I offered to make you governor six turns ago for a tech and a crawler. What did you have to pay Darsnan, I wonder?

                  • I concur. I did not expect a 1 turn notification, just a chance to bargain etc. It is therefore usual practice to post/email all players that an election has been called & how many votes are available. Not that it would have made a difference in this case. Still such a start does not bode well for the first planetary government.

                    Turned.
