I just read in the manual that 3 players max can share a conquest victory. If you win a diplomatic, economic, or transcend victory, your pact-mates get a higher score, but it's not like they actually "won" per se. I think in a 4-player game, a 3 player conquest victory would be pretty cheesy...

I respectfully disagree, especially for transcendence. Two (or more) people working together can each make significant contributions toward transcending the whole team. For example, both players can crank up their research, sharing techs as they get them, resulting in a phnomenal combined research rate. Or one player can take care of military matters, holding off the enemy while the other player concentrates on research. And in either case, if the turn order works out right, one player can build the Voice of Planet and the other can follow up with the Ascent to Transcendence. It's a bit of a letdown for the player who doesn't actually build the Ascent (been there, done that), but he's still part of the team and I definitely consider that to be a team victory. If you win a diplomatic, economic, or transcend victory, your pact-mates get a higher score, but it's not like they actually "won" per se.
I agree. On the other hand, I was in a 4-player game where one player fairly quickly conquered the other three of us.I think in a 4-player game, a 3 player conquest victory would be pretty cheesy..."I love justice, I hate iniquity. 78 to the gaians
On the co-op victory issue, i thought there was a house rule that any co-op victory could include only 2 human players. There can be an AI in the team as well . However i went back to the rules and saw nothing on this.
I would agree that a 3 player co-op victory is pretty cheesy-- I mean, where is the contest or fun in that ?? two players together now-- thats fun !!You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo
