In anticipation of Smack replaying 2105 (and it's been a week since he had the turn resent to him) I've called for a replacement for Brendan. Let's hope it's not 2 replacements we need .....

News* sources report that President Brendan Hurd III "disappeared" while swimming in the ocean off his palatial estate in Hurdonia. As of this date it has not been confirmed as to whether or not Father Smack, reportedly* the President's drinking buddy was also a member of the swimming "party"; the Believers' Head-of-Faction has not been seen since the day of the tragedy. "Witnesses" reportedly* described a "huge floating mass", said to be composed of "smaller writhing, squirming creatures - not unlike eels or worms" and said that it enveloped the President, smothering his petulant cries of "You can't do this to Me!" and "Don't you know Who I am!". Hi! officials were quoted as saying "The President died with the same profound dignity as he lived". Other sources* indicated that the episode at the beach was only the final act of a drama which began at a contentious meeting at which the Hi! officials announced that they were fed up with the corruption and the opulent and degenerate lifestyle of the former President.
Spokespersons for the new Head-of-Faction, Hi! Commissioner J.D. "Johnny" Muller said that the Commish had offered his condolences to the widows and orphans of Mr. Hurd and promised a new administration committed to Education and the Environment, respectful of all Religious beliefs, strong proponents of Collectivized Independent Businesses and ever mindful of Factional Defense and the Peoples Right to Bare(sic) Arms. The Hi! Commissioner also declared a day of Factional Celebration to commemorate the President's passing. The Commish was variously quoted* as saying "This's the way Old Bubbly would have wanted it", also "Back where ah(sic) comes(sic) frum(sic), we ulways(sic) dunces(sic) at funnerals(sic), why'dja(sic) think we calls(sic) them 'funnerals'" and/or "Now we're gonna put the 'Party' back into 'Party'".

I've read a lot of the posts about the way this game is supposed to go, but I never found the pre-game thread where the game was first proposed and set up (presuming that there was/is one), which might give me a better feel for things. Also, if any of you care to share your impressions of what is going on, I would appreciate that also. I guess I'm not completely sure exactly how far we are taking the character role playing in the game itself.
I hope that Avenoct/Smack turns up as this seems to be right up his cup of tea, not to mention the (not) fun of getting into a game that may not ever get going.
If I've got it right, the cast is currently: Gaians - Kassiopeia
Hive - SPasmofiT
University - Levelisk
Morgan - Hydro
Sparta - Deimos
Believers - Smack
PeaceKeepers - JohnDMuller

Turn to Spasmotif.
(I didn't recall your email address, lost it somehow. But, I 'stole' your address from another game thread, and also sent it to the alternative address you posted here. So, I assume it's there.)
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!
I view the RP PBEM to take role-playing to the hilt. For all practical purposes you ARE the UN representative on Planet, and view all events through that prism. I am Morgan, and I gave up my standard Gaian Green credentials at the gate (see my text in the RP4 Tales thread). The point, I guess, is to develop and expand as your faction would based on its ideology, and interact as you would with other factions. Note that there are some ideological enemies, and some factions that are likely natural allies. But, fate may take them in a different direction. THAT is what the role-playing is for!
I've bumped the RP4 Tales thread for you. I was buried WAY back. Did you need to get the RP rules, btw? Most of them should be in the beginning of this thread, or the RP2 thread. The rules sort of evolved, and their genesis can be found in threads several months old now. Those threads can be bumped or linked, if you'd like.
There's good news and bad news. The good news is that RP4 2106 is off to Deimos of the Spartans. The bad news is that I didn't bet my turn until this afternoon, which means it was waiting a whole 10 days in my work in box (which was the problem). Also in my haste to get RP4 up and running I opened the file, and then promptly blanked on my password. I tried to back out, restarted, and was informed that I had already played my turn. Honest! I haven't! (you believe the good CEO, don't you? Hmmmm?)
Glad to see your back among us, Hydro. I hope you enjoyed your fall from the edge of the world.
I also cc:'d the turn to our CMN. I haven't seen Smack about in some time, and I would hate for this to stall again so soon.
