    Hi all,
I'm going to be out of town on business for the next two weeks, and I will not be able to count on internet or e-mail access. I will trust our good GM to do my turn for me while I'm gone.
    Thanks,
    Hydro

Just wondering again when this is going to get started.

I've e-mailed DiliDad to find out if he's busy - as Tau and I are both in this game, alternatives are few.

Misotu has CMN'd a couple, but she is wrestling with her PC right now and might not want the hassle of setting up a scenario. Aredhran still hasn't played a turn for a few weeks of his games, so must still be on Swiss military service.

Mark13 might be an alternative - he has set several up in the CGN forums and I don't think he's in this one. But let's give DD a chance to reply or bow out

Whilst you wait for DD - what does it need to be CMN? I would like to give it ago sometime but like all things you seem to need experience first before you are allowed to do it...

Just time, really, and some familiarity playing around with the Scenario Editor.

For a seven-player game it's actually easier, as none of the faction diplomacy/strategy/agenda items need be bothered with.

making sure the start positions are balanced, with good access to resources, and a roughly equivalent landmass is important. The mechanicals come with practice (avoiding the little mistakes that show up in gameplay - like changing your mind about locating a faction, then after the game starts, that faction also sees the tiles where it originally was - that sort of thing)

The Scenario Editor is fairly intuitive - the map takes the longest time, followed by the thirty or forty playtest turns that really should be done. I have a pretty large library of maps of all sizes from the various challenge scenarios I've built, so I usually pop in one of them and then edit the landmass to get the desired relationships. It's actually quite a lot of fun to build a scenario for playing yourself - even although you know where you put all the factions, not until satellites can you actually see the whole map you created.

The other thing to do is download any of the scenarios from the sites and activate the Scenario editor, and just experiment with changing stuff.

Realloy quite simple, once you get the hang of it

            G.

Cheers Googlie. I think I will have a tinker with it to see what it can do!

After his early success opening the pod door the Chairman found he was unable to move out into the landscape. Mystical forces from outside of Planet held him, locked into his pod. His instruments indicated that the world outside was in a state of flux and provided ever-changing readings as to the terrain outside and the location of his faction. It was as if the world on which he landed DID NOT YET EXIST. The chairman maintained his calm demeanour saying " the lesson my children is that there are some things beyond our control. The only sensible course is to wait until we get some stable readings and THEN we can move out into the world"

                  LOL Flubber - nicely put

No reply from DiliDad either to this thread or to my e-mail

I see Aredhran is back from military duties. I've e-mailed him and copied him on the RP3 scenario already started to see if he is up to designing RP2 for us. If in the meantime DiliDad delivers, then 'Red will save some time and effort.

Bump ( so it does not fall into the oblivion that is page 3)

Just to update - Ii have exchanged e-mails with Dilithium Dad, and the ball is in my court to set out the game parameters we'd like (essentialluy copying those of the RP3 and RP4 games)

More specifically, are we agreeable to playing on DD's Ultimate Builder map?

I think yes (I have played a couple on it, but homestly can't remember a feature - I've played in and built so many maps recently that they are all just one giant green and pink blur). I do remember that the UB Map gave very balanced starting positions, so I vote "yes"

Sure-- any reasonably balanced map will do

                              RP2-ers,

DD’s map is fine, since there are no ‘bad’ places to land. Even the poor areas on the MoP are large enough, and have enough rainy and monsoon jungle pieces to be useful. The key will be if you land near friends or not!

DiDad's map is fine with me, too.
