  • Newbie looking for PBEM game

Since i've never played a multiplayer game i have no idea how to start it or join one.

I have very little expirience in SMAC(X) and looking for some 'less' skilled players (such as myself) to earn some.

I am open to negotiate about all settings, but i would like to play on Transcend level.

In Civ2 MP there are ALOT of loopholes and bugs which could be exploited. I am pretty much sure that SMAC(X) also have some. I don't know for any (don't even want to know) so i'll not use them and i expect same from my respectful opponents.

    Regards.

    Hi,
I've never played PBEM either and I would really like to play one. I think the way it is done is when you start a PBEM (go to MP then Hotseat/PBEM option), when you finish your turn, you exit then send the save to the next player whose turn is up.
Transcend is fine. I like a standard size random map, standard rules. But we can arrange for different settings if you prefer. It doesn't really matter to me.
If you pick an Alien Crossfire game, I would like to play as Cyborgs. If it's an Alpha Centauri game, I would like to be PK.

    my e-mail is mbrownin@seidata.com

I hope we can play. If you are uncertain as to how to start a PBEM game and you want me to start, just send me your e-mail.

      Cool!
      Welcome aboard Nicholas!
I think that the more human players are in the game, the more fun the game will be.

          I am ready.
do we agree on the settings?
          -transcend
          -random map
          -standard size map
          -standard rules

do we want the original factions or the SMACX factions?
And who will play which faction?

I can set the game up if that's ok with everyone.

I suggest we start tomorrow. I have Civ2 MP starting in 15 mins and i wont be able to load SMAC(X) simultaneously.
I have planetary pack, but i never tried it so i suggest normal AC game with no reloading under any circumstances (if you get mindworms from pod, deal with it).
            I'll pick Morgan if possible.
We still need confirmation from Nicolas.
You may start a game and send me a file, but i wont be able to reply in next 5-6 hours.

            I agree with proposed settings,Nicolas?

I'd be willing to join, too. Never played a PBEM game, but I'm good in singleplayer (hard not to be ).

I set up the game as we agreed. It is a SMAC game so be sure to load up SMAC not SMACX!

                  Just to reiterate:
I'm Lal of PK, Nicholas is Yang of the Hive and SmartFart is in as Morgan.

It's the Hive's turn so I sent the save to Nicholas.

If we have any problems, we can discuss it here.

Sorry guys. My CD is scratched to hell and my drive won't recognize it. I tried to find a cd crack but there don't seem to be any for version 5.0, and no warez copy either. I did manage to find a CD crack for TerranX, so I could do a game of smacX. If you guys don't want to do smacx, feel free to find a replacement for me.

                        OK.

Is there a way to keep Progenitors out from the game to get rid ot their additional victory condition?

I guess Diplomat need to start a new game.
I'll stick to the Morganites again.

Nicholas: I am sorry to hear about your cd getting all scratched up.

I am willing to play SMACX. I actually prefer it to the original SMAC because of the new techs and SP's.

SmartFart: Do you want to try a game of SMACX?

I am glad that everything is ok!
I will set up a game of Alien Crossfire but with the original factions so that the Progenitors won't be in it and we will be able to play the factions we wanted.
I need to redownload the patch for SMACX which will take about 30 mn. As soon as that is done I will start the game.
