I'm not sure why my power rating is so low compared to the other factions. I'm guessing it's the result of craptastic start locations, but don't expect me to lag behind forever

Besides, the research factions are notorious for their fast starts.

I didn't asked to play Uni, I've inherited that crappy faction from agent subversion. My all time favorite is Morgan under 'Wealth/Demo'.
Since I have to play Uni, I'll try to maximize Uni advantages.

My land also sucks, but 2 monoliths and recon rover did make things easier on the very begining.

Techs and population make a very big difference early on for the powergraph. Gaining one of either can be a 20-40% jump in one turn. Besides, there are some very important things it doesn't include like mineral/energy production or infiltration.
