Hmm, it really depends on my mood. There's two styles to my gameplay. There's an "Idealist" and a "Despot" switch in my head, normally I start with the idealist mindset and the despot usually kicks in after Miriam pisses me off.

    Idealist SocEng:

    Demo/Green/Knowledge/Eudaimonia

Basically if I was a normal citizen or Joe Talent, how I want my faction to run. Needless to say, I'd be Gaian as the -1 POLICE and -1 MORALE means I wouldn't have the authorities breathing down my back every time I want to "experiment" with fungal spores in my new "water pipe" nor would they expect me to fight when the Morgan Chaos Nedlejet comes flying by.

    Despot Mode:

    Police/Green (or Planned)/Wealth/Thought Control

And this is how I would run things if I was the leader of a faction, to rule with an iron fist in a velvet glove. Total control, the "Mine, all mine" mentality where the masses, drone and talent alike serves only one purpose and that is to do my bidding. Sending armies to destroy that pesky Lai for his 'humanitarian' wimpers while trying to figure out what is the best way to install the cloning vat next to my private harem. Power, fame, DECADENCE!!!!!!!

    Yeah, I'm a sick puppy...

No sicker than the next man, ie. me. Just look at the thread I started about SMAC or love . . . But in the game, I play Morgan as a police state or fundamentalism (exactly the way the strategy specialists tell you is not optimal) and go around beating on greens, peaceniks, and anyone else who I don't specifically agree with.

      Power, fame, DECADENCE!!!!!!!
I can see you know what it's all about.

BTW, I allways, allways try to get BOTH Command Center and Bioenhancement Center.... I just hate when one insane mindworm/isleofdeep/locust/sealurk destroys my fresh-from-the-storage base.

Bah! You forgot alot of the other SE options!

Here's the combo I use the most:

Police State/Green (yes, Green ) or Planned/Knowledge/Thought Control.

As you can deduce, I tend to win by Conquest
Despot-(1a) : a ruler with absolute power and authority (1b) : a person exercising power tyrannically

But if the thought control is made in "the Matrix" -style, then nobody would know their thougts are controlled.

I didnt forget anything, Frankychan, Its a final so I kept only the two SE settings in each category that had the more votes in the precedent poll. And obviously th emost populoar setting is Demo/green/knowledge/ eudaimonia or cybernetic.

An about the "ideologically insane" I am talking about fundamentalism. Its just my point of view, though. And I agree that Thought Control is also ideologically insane (but of course).

I love trying to comprehend game concepts in real life.

Almost as silly as a Thought controlled Democracy is a Police State that values Wealth... Those who don't earn at least 50 energy credits in a week will suddenly disappear in the middle of the night without a trace. Can you imagine how pushy telemarketers would be THEN?!?

Then there's the people who love efficient social engineering. Consider a Gaian base with a Children's Creche running Dem/Grn/Knw/Eud. IIRC, that'll be +11 Efficiency!!! Considering it (only) takes +4 to have a PARADIGM ECONOMY, do you have any idea what life like that would be?!? You'd have to train your family pet to go to the bathroom in a specific part of the yard at the proper time every few hours to optimize both the pet's bladder emptying and the yard's fertilization, for one thing. You would make leftovers from one meal stretch into 17 other meals. Every time you farted, you'd have to store the gas to use as fuel. And so on...

Fundamentalism with green economy... Thou shalt keep off the grass (under penalty of eternal condemnation).
