Shall we officially accept the truce with the Corporation before they pass on their turn? I guess it would be better to have the peace with the Corporation (and more important their money) in our coffers before we pose extra demands to the Gaians.

        Yes, definately.

And yes for some bullying of the Gaians. They have no way to enforce anything anyway.
        Seriously. Kung freaking fu.

Re: Interceding on Morgan's behalf with our allies:

Given what we know (see elsewhere for the Uni and PK's reaction), how about:

"Given that the Corporation will benefit financially to a significant extent by a cessation of hostilities between them and the University and Peacekeepers, the Federation would be willing to intercede with our allies on behalf of the Corporation provided suitable recompense was paid for our efforts.

The Junta suggests that perhaps 50 credits for each faction (100 credits in total) would persuade our ambassadors to use their good offices on behalf of the Corporation in this regard"

Who knows - thery may negotiate us down to, say, 25 credits each faction but it's as good as a podpop even if they do

Zak's territory is under our protection according to the Modo Doctrine. If they try to enter, or even get close, we kill them.

Actually, i think that if they called Zak themselves, he'd say "This vendetta wastes lives and resources, yadda yadda"

Lal's a different kettle of fish (and I'd forgotten we'd bribed him to join us in the war against morgan) I believe that he'll now stay in vendetta for the rest of the game

Just ask them about Zak then. Say Lal is too stubborn or something like that. We can hardly say: "Sorry, we payed him too well."

                        Sounds good.
In addition, may I suggest to have a peace with Zak that all factions (including the Angels) have to officially acknowledge that the University of Planet is a Spartan protectorate, which entails that no one is allowed to conduct any diplomacy with the University without Spartan permission and supervision?

IIRC we threatened to cancel our pact. Results in the same situation of course.

Good idea. Not that they will follow it, but we migth as well make others look bad.

As to Lal, he broke the Pact anyway, so him saying he was paid seems really weird. Anyway, we can say Lal needs to learn to appreciate our new, Democratic government before we will be able to talk him into or out of any deals. Close enough to the truth, and keeping with the general roleplay.

I like the "hands-off" approach to Zak

re Morgan, I think it's best that this nessage goes via the embassy - after all, it might just prompt him to ask the Angels or the gaians to contact Zak and we'd possibly lose some potential credits income if they did.

I'll prep a couple of posts - one for the embassy (Morgan) and one for the Conference (Zak)

                                Suggested message to the Conference:

                                Dear delegates:

The Federation would like at this time to have these present recognize the unique status of the University of Planet as a Protectorate of the Spartan Federation

At the beginning of this conference I deposited with the Chair the proxy crystal of Acadamician Zakharov..

Our requirement is that any contact with the University sub-faction must be cleared with the Federation beforehand. And by "any contact" we mean exactly that ..... commlink calls, suggested trades, offers of Truce, Treaty or Pact, covert operations activities, overfly rights or ocean or land passage rights, etc.

The University has a prior relationship with the Peacekeepers which we ourselves will respect - and, obviously, faction leaders are free to deal with the Peacekeepers as and when they wish - our requirements for advance permission from the Federation only applies to the University.

It could be left unsaid, but does bear mentioning, that ongoing peaceful relations between the Federation and other factions on Chiron will be greatly facilitated by such recognition - and put in jeopardy in its absence.

Might we have the Council's recognition of this Protectorate status and agreement on this contact procedure - by a roll call of individual factions?
