Oh hey Maniac I just read this, thanks for the offer But I'd prefer to take a position like squadron leader. I don't want to push away a senior officer from a position he's been waiting 60 years to fill Speaking of which, dibs for Space Admiral

Well that's grossly overexaggerating it. The only reason I put 'Commander of the Air Force' in my sig is:
        a) because Googlie made me so on his website (see here)
        b) to perhaps make other factions prematurely think we in fact have an airforce, and become scared as a consequence.

Hmm, but now that we do have an Airforce, how do we convince the others of it? I suggest a bombing run to whack some crawlers in Morgania
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

Good idea. It seems like they have given up any talks with us anyway.
            Seriously. Kung freaking fu.

OTOH, it might not be so bright to reveal its existence to others just yet. I think it might serve us better to use it when we need it. That way we can keep our air power out of Morgan's strategic considerations which in turn can give us an additional edge.

What exactly can they do if we show them the bombs now, that they could not do if we would attack later? And, how does that relate to the immediate damage we could do hile there is no air opposition?

Personally I have the feeling, that we are better off attacking as much as possible before any Morgan planes come up. Either they will try to defend somehow without planes, which is slow suicide, or they will flee, preparing the ground for our invasion. And if they do leave the shores, then our planes will be free to attack Yang. Looks like a win-win situation for us, does it not?

As the Angels and we are both allied to the Peacekeepers, we indirectly get some extra information about the Angels, such as their list of techs. Likewise the Angels, if they have a good intelligence agency at least, will immediately notice we have the technology of Doctrine: Air Power. So, except for hoping on inattentive Angel data miners, there's no way to keep our air capacity hidden.

I think we should target that Morgan supercrawler - might as well make their next SP as expensive as possible - as well as taking out their navy and probe foils whenever we see one

Now, now. Before you throw me against the wall for pacifism, I'd like to note that I said that we shouldn't use our air power for the express purpose of just showing it. If we can take out Morganite crawlers with them so that their economical ability is hampered, OF COURSE WE SHOULD DO THAT. What use is air power if it's sitting in the hangar? I was merely opposing my own earlier sentiment of using the tool for the heck of it. Keeping the tool a secret when compared to that is smart, but even smarter is using the tool for something useful.

Additionally, I didn't mean keep it hidden from everyone, from Morgan. Of course, since we're being paranoid, I suppose it means that the Angels are giving out every single piece of tactical info they can mine on us to the Morganites...?

Hmm - I guess if we'd have thought of it we could always have de-pacted with Lal (after all, we get no commerce income from him for another 9 years, so the pact is worthless right now)

But as the Angels - and presumably immediately thereafter Gaians and Morgan - will know that we have Doc:air, we might as well use it

Vander Eudaimonics itself is in range (from Craterwest), as are the forests to its north and west, and the crawler southwest of Vulcanology)

Their supercrawler is working northwest of Micha Archives, so is in range if we stage from Gagarin Memorial. Plus, they have a conventional crawler working a solar tile northeast of ZZT - also in range, and some juicy forest, mine and farmland tiles around Argi Narnia

So we won't want for targets!!

                          Excellent!

Unfortunately, they will probably see the noodle when it is parked in Gagarin, so they will have time to retreat the supercrawler Unless we extort Zak for it of course, but he seems reluctant to do so (AI-diplomacy parallel turn rules invoked )

We can pound the crap out of some of their bases, and make life difficult for them, but they will be able to move their juiciest targets out of harms way.

A sea-base in the Buster Ocean is sounding more and more interesting, but unfortunately a sea colony pod is so expensive

Well that's grossly overexaggerating it. The only reason I put 'Commander of the Air Force' in my sig is:

But still Maniac, there's no reason for me to take this title and leave you commanding only the Kel. You outrank me and should have a bigger title. I am not specifically in love with being air force commander, it was just available and needed to be filled. Of course it wasn't so there's no reason for me to take it. I'll be happy just to command a squadron, honest

Actually, we might be able to perform suicide attacks on particularly juicy targets, such as the big crawlers, if they just move them out of range. That will be a particularly viable strategy if we deploy more impact noodles (B-4?). 20 minerals wouldn't be a bad loss compared to half an SP

That's not a bad trade-off at all - maybe we make that our first strike!!

Looks like a good idea. A few valuable targets would definately be worth it. The queestion is, how many do we need and what are the chances of success?
